This is what everyone pointing out our losses on defense doesn't understand....

Pry got more players involved than almost any defensive coach in the country. By the end of the season, 31 players (12 linemen, eight linebackers, and 11 defensive backs) had made at least five tackles each, and 19 had made at least 13.

Absolutely correct - the sports media is often very lazy. This writer took the time to look at participation last year. Good job.

Nevertheless, we will have to stop the run with four not five or six if we want to run the table. Athletically and depth-wise we will be fine. Interestingly enough, App State has a pretty good north south running back that is being touted as a future NFLer. Might help us sort some things out up front early.

Looks like he has one game where we’re a moderate underdog (Ohio State), one pure toss-up (Michigan) and two others where we’re moderate favorites (Wisconsin and MSU).

Considering three of those four are at home (with two likely at night), I’d peg us more like 2-2 over those games and 10 wins than 1-3 and 9 wins, but Bill’s analysis of where the team sits coming into the season is overall pretty accurate, even if I disagree a bit with the metric projection.

Having said that, we will have a true freshmen starting at MLB this year. I am comfortable speculating that our D will be OK, but anyone who knows how a true freshmen is going to perform at this level is kidding themselves.
