A lot of people in the middle are leaning left on this one, from what I've seen.

They see Lindsey Graham and, by extension, the Republican Party as unforgivable hypocrites after tricking the Dems into a "gentlemens' agreement" in 2016.

2018, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.): “If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump’s term, and the primary process has started, we’ll wait to the next election.”



I would say they do have a point on this matter. If fair is fair, then Merrick Garland should have a seat on the SCOTUS.

So the criticism seems valid, to me.

With that being said, I believe President Trump should move forward in nominating a Supreme Court justice and the Senate should take a vote to confirm or deny.

Based on my interactions with others, they are not arguing so much against the POTUS nominating a new candidate, but people in the middle are extremely turned off by the perceived reneging of the gentlemens' agreement set forth in 2016.
