This seems like a questionable addition if you go purely by ratings (On3 says 79.8). PSU has limited scholarships available and this doesn't appear to be a higher rated player than what we already have. The staff must see potential in Ford. Let's hope they're right.
If he can just handle 15 snaps a game that's very helpful. If you don't have dominant DTs then the next best thing is to have a rotation and at least be able to keep relatively fresh legs out there for 4 quarters.

DT might be the last frontier for PSU. It's the one thing PSU doesn't have that playoff-caliber teams have. And it's not a problem that will be solved right away -- it takes years just like it's taken years to upgrade OL.

I agree.

PSU has very few scholarships so I doubt they take two DTs in the portal. Taking Ford makes me think the staff thought he was their best option. I was hoping for Mississippi transfer Tywone Malone from since he is from New Jersey. I'd sure hate to see Malone wind up at Michigan.

I think I read he visited Columbus, but have seen nothing about Ann Arbor.

I think Durant is going to be our best DT next year amd it shouldnt be a surprise.

I will believe it when I see it on the field. Last year, I think some in the media did Durant a disservice by pumping him up only to have him be a non factor. This is not Durant’s fault. Some fans and media are prone to wishful thinking.

I think the big issue is usually in the spring, the EEs get more snaps than veterans and people blow it out of proportion to what they think people will do come the fall.

Durant saw a good amount of snaps as a true freshman and being that he was undersized for DT (most programs he would have started at DE weighing 260s), he did as good as our depth players did.

I have no idea how much he improves, but we'll have an idea by the end of game 1.

DDS hopefully is as unblockable all season as he was in the BW game.

"non-factor"? I question that. He was part of the rotation and gained valuable experience despite his lower weight @ around 275 lbs.
