Sean Lee was a healthy scratch last week. He had a good run

When his career is over, I wouldn't be surprised to see eventually became a defensive coordinator and then a head coach, like Mike Vrable.

Agreed--Sean Lee, if he wants, could be a very good coach. His instincts were incredible. Special player that could definitely help get the most out of players.

Mine singletary had great instincts too. Have no idea if Sean Lee wants to be a head coach, but being a great player is. It a prerequisite. In fact, I think it is sometimes more difficult because you can’t teach instincts, and it is difficult to understand why others don’t have those natural instincts.

i think your point is well validated - many great players cannot teach the game. don't take ski lessons from a gold medal skier who started when they were 2 yrs old.....they cannot relate to normal people.

Sean Lee does talk like a great potential coach. best place to start may be something other than LBs - i.e. DL coach. it does appear that he may be done in Dallas and has missed way too many seasons. the new LB is now the man, so Sean is now probably the backup.

I agree. I think it's very difficult for elite players to coach/manage because the game often came "easier" for them than most.

Sean Lee has instincts you can't teach, but he also has a great skill set that can be taught! As the Mike LB for many years, he has been the guy who has to call the D formation and adjustments...which makes me believe he could be a great DC quite quickly should he decide to go the coaching route. If you don't think great players can coach, serve me up a helping of Mike Munchak!

Dallas will waive Lee this offseason. Question will be if Lee wants to play again or if he'll just hang 'em up

But Lee isn’t a Lavar Arrington who freelances and relies on superhuman athletic ability. Sean Lee is more of a gym rat who studies film and knows whe to be at the right time and how to react to reads. These things are very much teachable.

C'mon coaches are expected to be miracle workers.

Mike Singletary and Sean Lee are not in the same universe in terms of IQ.

How Singletary ever advanced in coaching, aside from pure luck and name recognition, is mind boggling.

Sean Lee is one smart, analytical dude, with a lot more going for him upstairs than Singletary ever had.

That is a horrible comparison. And no, before our PC crowd starts screaming, that's got nothing to do with race. If you'd combine Singletary's coaching with Millen's GM-ing, the world would actually implode.

Ask Fairgambit. He’s the ‘context’ specialist here regarding race.

Sean Lee getting healthy for playoffs could really get his name back in the forefront.

Didn't really mean to compare the two. The point that I was trying to make is that we sometimes assume a great player will make a great coach. And there have been countless times this has not worked out, and certainly many times it has. Not having met or ever talked to Sean Lee (which I assume most have not), I have no idea if he wants to be a coach, a neurosurgeon, or another ex-Cowboy announcer.

This post is so stupid.

There not in the same universe IQ Wise, but one is in the HOF, one isn’t. One coached, one didn’t.

I love Sean Lee, he was a solid player, but Singletary was very smart and an awesome player.

I just remember during his injury rehab where he looked like an extra coach on the sideline. He wore a headset and looked thoroughly involved in the game. He was talking to the other LBs going on and coming off the field. If you didn't know who he was, you'd have assumed he was an assistant coach. His football IQ is another factor. This is stuff they've said about him in Dallas...

That was certainly true Sunday, when the linebacker seemed to be everywhere on the Lincoln Financial Field turf.

He collected 14 tackles, two of which resulted in lost yardage. He made an interception, the 12th of his career and the most among linebackers since he entered the league in 2010. He recovered an onside kick. He diagnosed plays before the Eagles even ran them.

"He was calling them out!" safety Barry Church exclaimed. "He knew ahead of time. He was like, 'Hey they are about to do this, about to do that.' And that's just off of his film study. He's that type of player and that's why we need him."

"He's an amazing player, an amazing teammate, an amazing leader," said tackle Tyrone Crawford. "Just knowing and seeing the work he puts in throughout the week and before the game, you just know that type of player is destined for greatness."

Lee's preparation is unparalleled. He stays late at Valley Ranch, reviewing video cutups of that week's opponent. In practice, he is focused, visualizing what he will face in the game. Lee's ability to process information, his recall, his intelligence and his quick reflexes have made him a defensive dynamo. In a sport where split seconds can be the difference between success and failure, Lee has made time his ally by anticipating what's to come.

If Lee wants to coach after the NFL, I'd be thrilled if he started at Penn State.
