So - I am not an "old fart" alumni, definitely not a "get off my lawn" guy, but I do have an issue with fans in front of me standing...

Our seats are in WB (10 yard line)... and I have no problem standing cheering when there is action directly on our 10 yard line or even lets say the 30 yard-line in... especially on a big down... 3rd down etc...

But what's the boards take on fans who constantly stand, with no one standing in front of them, when the action is 30 yards away. We are fairly low, so these standing fans make me stand, which makes the people behind me stand, and we get a domino effect (with the "down in front" chants)...

Comments?

It would irritate the crap out of me if people in directly in front of me were constantly standing.

I think this is the new generation Alumni. When I attended games as a student way back when, the student section sat down)from what I remember because I was drunk most of the time for the 1:00 PM games). However, these days, the entire student section stands for the entire game. I am guessing these are the newer type Alumni that are used to standing at the games. I have no problems with standing, then I don't have to worry about being kneed in the back or kneeing someone in the back.

The issue(s) I have problems with are those ass clowns who feel they need to stand on the bleacher, therefore blocking my view even when I am standing. Lastly, the other issue is about people complaining that I am taking up too much of their seat. I am not fat and there are 2 seats(or numbers) between me and the end of the bleacher. They constantly give me crap that I am in their seat, at which I direct them to kindly ask the 20-30 people sitting to my right to move down so that I can move over so their fat asses will fit. Here is some advice, don't select seats on the end!! Chances are there will be only room for half a cheek.

Holy crap, I sound old! :)

My problem with constant standers is that my wife is 4'11". It's hard for her to watch a game between people.

I let common sense be my guide. If everybody around me is sitting, I sit.

I find that, in general, there is a percentage of people who just don't give a crap what the other 100K around them think. It's the "me first" mentality, not just among the recent grads, but among those of all ages. It's a no win situation. You either suck it up and deal with it or you move.

We're back to bitching about standing during a game? HELL YEAH!!! While we're at it, let's bitch about not being able to see Mt Nittany, or being able to smell the pig farm, or getting stuck in the mud after a good soaking rain, or the concourses not being wide enough, there not being enough 'facilities', or whatever else comes to mind.

Last time I checked, when you enter a stadium you are there to watch an event. All the other stuff doesn't really matter. ;)

This thread needs a 'outrage' or 10

I do not consider myself an old guy either, but my knees are telling me otherwise. I had a guy at the Indiana game stand up everytime the play had the potential to turn into a big play. No one else stood up, just him. I started to feel like a yo-yo. Instead of confront him, I decided to watch the big boards, which I could have done at home. I love the game day experience, but Yo-yo-man took some of the fun out of it.

Knowing the situation are key. If it's a night game against UM, you better believe I'm going to be standing on almost every 3rd down. If we are playing Georgia State, I'm not getting out of my seat for most of the game.

Free Shoes U fans stand for the entire game. Just think what happens at Michigan Stadium with 12" seats -- too many gung ho Michiganders who did not attend UMich but think they can do no harm.
