If Willie Taggart's seat was hot going into the season, it has to be molten right now. My hat is off to Boise State for going into a hot, humid place and imposing their will after being down by 15 early in the game. I see a couple of familiar names.

I hope FL has a couple of games like that too!

Boise State starting a true freshmen QB too. Bad loss for FSU.

A bunch of coaches might have also gotten texts from FSU's AD. Taggart is done there.

Not sure what he did to get hired there in the first place. Sure hope he doesn't get canned, because they might hire a good coach and hamper our new found FLA pipeline.
Much the same I feel about Pitt. I worry they will lose to Ohio this weekend and have a disastrous season (they are only favored in 3 games this year) and they hire someone who actually doesn't turn off recruits.

Not happening. In the past 30 years only Walt Harris was non-repulsive

Not true. Wanny was able to keep several WPIAL recruits home. May not be as much of an issue moving forward, since we recruit 1-2 guys from their per year. But it sure makes it easy to just pluck out whomever we want without any worries.

it was completely stupid and pure hubris on Pitt's part getting rid of Wanny. Guy had a legit coaching resume, NFL coaching resume to sell to recruits, was a western PA guy and would have been willing to coach out his career there. But somehow the Pitt AD thinks that Pitt should be a legit Top 15 in the country program and Wannstache isn't good enough. With the way the college landscape has changed, Pitt is going to be a P5 doormat program from now until eternity as PA football is just not what it once was and cannot really support a second P5 program.

Who was that D End from a few years ago (same class as YGM I think) who was from MD but played in Florida? Did he play at all? I tuned in for a bit and didn't see him - think he wears #99.

Portal is gonna be hot in Tallahassee this year...

I wouldn’t root so much for the Florida teams to suck or we might see Seider get a HC job at one of them then say bye bye to our Florida pipeline and a few of our recruits most likely.

GREAT observation. One could easily see Florida St coming after him sooner rather than later!

It’s bound to happen, and after that loss yesterday probably sooner then we’d like. The only chance I’d think we have at buying time would be to promote him to offensive coordinator .. but how do we get rid of an OC who just had the team put up 79 points.

I would not worry about FSU trying to hire a position coach. I would worry more about FSU trying to hire Franklin.

FSU or Florida hiring a RB coach as HC? Not likely, pilgrims. As for FSU doing something "sooner rather than later," Taggart has a $17mm buyout after this season, $12.75mm after next.

I didn't think about the Coach Seider angle. Really hope we can keep him for another couple of years. That being said, I have to believe that some of FSU's recruits will be paying close attention to how the season unfolds.

There is a reason Jimbo left when he did. He parlayed his Winston led championship into A&M dreaming "we could beat Bama!" All the while talking away the poor season he just underwent.

Josh Kaindoh. He had 2 tackles, 1 sack, 1.5 TFL. Not sure if he starts.

Jimbo left because FSU wouldn’t commit to build facilities that came anywhere close to what Clemson or A&M had. Coaches are all about facilities nowadays to make recruiting a little easier on them. That’s why I don’t worry about Franklin going to FSU.

True. But he also left it an absolute dumpster fire. Taggart is a good recruiter who has had success rebuilding programs. I think if given time he can win at FSU. Unfortunately it may not be enough or quick enough.

Willie Taggart is one of the worst coaches I have ever seen. He is terrible. I was stunned when he got the Oregon job. When he got the F$U job I assumed he must have embarrassing pictures of some high ranking figure somewhere.

Not a Taggart homer but he improved both Western Kentucky and South Florida. Western Kentucky had lost 26 games in a row half way into his first season. He is a good recruiter. If FSU gives him time, which I doubt they will the win totals will gradually improve. Too good of a recruiter and too much HS talent plus a weak ACC. I don’t think people fully realize how much of a mess he inherited from Jimbo.

USF was a program that was ripe for an uptick. He parlayed that into a gig at oregon, in which he did a very mediocrely job in his 1 year there. Why FSU went after that, I have no idea. He looks completely clueless in game, and his team often performs as if he is completely clueless during the practice week as well. It will be
a long, long time before he has any success at FSU. And that, quite frankly is unfathomable at a school with FSUs recruiting base and ACC schedule.

and with all those Gator and Miami fans that seat will get hot quick with no bragging rights in Florida for him. Glad we never have to worry about being outclassed in our state since we have zero competition here.

An FSU receiver, Tamorrion Terry, scores a td yesterday, runs to the sideline and puts on a mask to goof around. FSU also has toys for the defense in the form of a “turnover backpack”. They actually put a backpack on a player to play around with on the sideline. I really do wonder how much today’s 18-22 year olds care about team wins as opposed to “building their brand” as individuals. I’m more and more thankful for James Franklin everyday

That sounds like a convenient way for coach/school to blow smoke around the real reasons he left.

It is probably some combination of the following: TAM gave him more money than FSU ever would, he was frustrated with someone in the FSU admin, something happened and he does not want to be the one who ends up taking the blame for it.

I believe there was a story going around when he left to go to TA&M that FSU only had half of a field to practice on. That and they didn’t want to pay the assistants.

There are 50 college football coaches around the country who go and recruit a couple quality kids from the state of FLA.

What Seider is doing at PSU may be novel for PSU....... but a “nothing burger” :) wrt coming anywhere even close to making him a HC candidate at a FSU/UF/or Miami.

The owner of my company is a Florida alum, and was very upset that Penn State was able to get Seider and mentioned some recruits that he was able to poach away from them. So don’t think the job he’s doing isn’t being noticed.
