Nittany Lion Wrestling Club Set to Host Freestyle Event Live Online
Over 10 freestyle match-ups set to stream live on Rokfin

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; September 1, 2020 - The Nittany Lion Wrestling Club (NLWC) will host a freestyle event on Saturday, Sept. 19, in an event available exclusively online. Upwards of 15 premier match-ups of some of the nation's top freestyle wrestlers will compete, without in-person fans, live in an event available on Rokfin. Action is set to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern.

A full slate of NLWC wrestlers will wrestle and the list of wrestlers competing and the match-ups on tap is extensive (please note that due to the rapidly changing environment, changes to this line-up can occur leading up to Sept. 19).

A meeting of NCAA champions is set with former Nittany Lion Bo Nickal (NLWC) taking on former Oklahoma State Cowboy champ Alex Dieringer. United States Olympic and NCAA champion Kyle Snyder (NLWC) takes on former Virginia Tech NCAA champion Mike Macchiavello. Former Penn State NCAA titlist Jason Nolf (NLWC) will meet another Virginia Tech All-American in David McFadden.

Another Lion former NCAA titlist, Zain Retherford (NLWC), will take on former Michigan All-American Alex Pantaleo and former Iowa All-American Thomas Gilman (NLWC) will battle former Lehigh NCAA champion Darian Cruz. Nittany Lion big man Greg Kirkvliet will face off against former Maryland All-American Youssif Hemida. Former Penn State All-American Nick Nevills will step on the mat to take on former Lehigh All-American Jordan Wood.

A number of other NCAA champions will take part as well against competitors to be announced in the coming days. Former Penn State NCAA champion Vincenzo Joseph (NLWC) and Clarion All-American Bekzod Abdurakhmonov (NLWC) will compete as will former Michigan Wolverines Malik Amine and Domenic Abounader.

Two women's freestyle match-ups are also set for the event with two NLWC competitors competing. Jennifer Page (NLWC) will face off against Desiree Zavala and Jane Valencia (NLWC) will meet Lauren Louive.

The event will stream exclusively on Rokfin via the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club's Rokfin channel. Anyone have any input on Rofkin? Can we just stream this event or do we end up getting locked in for a while like Flo?

As NLWC subscriber #73, it looks like a 1-click cancel to me. it's month to month for sure. Plus, 20(?)% of your $ goes to NLWC if you use their link to sign up. You also get access to all the other content on the platform (Willie, Burroughs, Askren, IA Wrestle, PA Power Wrestling....)

And you wonder why Flo seems so scared....

After this week's events, probably wouldn't hurt if people joined under Willie's channel (you get access to everything)

Yeah--I thought about it, but the fact that I can directly support the squad I follow passionately won the day, and tipped the scales. I hope NLWC makes extensive use of the platform, but even if they don't I can justify it to my wife as a donation. :p

No mention of David Taylor seems odd.
Besides Dieringer, who at Cliff Keen, or any other RTC for that matter, can give DT a match? I suppose they could go out and find someone else but it's a pretty small pool. Cox and Dake have their sights set on Snyder and Burroughs and probably aren't interested in getting sidetracked by a match with DT.

I'd prefer to see Ringer and Bo, a little more mystery to what might happen there.

Is it too late for the PD3 No Tech Falls match?

Flo is going to look funny pretending that this event isn't occurring while at the same time whining in a Travis County courtroom that they didn't get the rights to broadcast it.
Exactly. It’ll be fun to see them dance around it

There was never sufficient scorn heaped on Nomad for his total bullshit tweet awhile back about looking forward to wrestling in a few weeks when the Rumble in the Rooftop - which they weren’t covering - was happening mere days later. Total clown crap

so, the only competitor with NCAA eligibility is Kerkvliet, right? Is the guess here is a hope for an Oly redshirt for him?

According to Mark Flo's Day 2 testimony, Willie will get paid more cryptocurrency when you view his Rokfin channel content, regardless that you initially subscribed via NLWC link.

Whether it's a one-off in times of COVID or becomes regular event, this is a win for wrestling fans, athletes, and Willie. Sports media is trending to content creators retaining rights and control. Time will tell whether this kind of monetization is a NLWC priority.

I only hope that they learned from Flo issues and there are no streaming issues!!!

Of course now I went there, is that bad luck?
During Martin's testomony this week, he talked a bit about why Flo was successful early on--he said it was all about how cheap the production costs were for live events vs. what your mainstream sports productions run. I'm not sure they can make the same claim on some of their more premiere recent events (Final X, etc), which seemed to have a lot staff, gear, and sweat going into them. I am curious who is putting together the production--hope they have a lot of experience, and are sufficiently afraid of Cael.
