Seth

Time to step up and make the most of his opportunity. Looking at Intermat Rankings, I think it's reasonable to say he'll finish from 8-12, with an upside for even higher. Go get it, Seth!

his loss to Big D Thomas last year has me worried still. has he jumped a level? we are about to find out!

I have not seen Seth wrestle. Would appreciate a description of his style/technique/motor or how you think he stacks up with the competition in the B1G. Thanks.

Think of a bigger, slightly better, maybe even slightly more athletic (IMO) Nick Nevills

His last folk loss was I believe to Demetrius Thomas from Pitt last year, and in free somewhat concerning is he got taken to task but Cassioppi something to the tune of a 10-0 whooping. Definitely a low AA candidate maybe better.

6-0 this year with 4 by bonus. The loss to Thomas was in SV

Have never thought of Seth being better than Nick. Nick was pretty special before battling injuries. While Seth may be bigger and more athletic I am not sure he is a better wrestler than Nick.

Nick gets underrated I feel sometimes because his style didn't excite. Especially after we've now been spoiled by Cassar's style last year but his 2 healthy years, he AA'ed both times. I think he could have placed higher in 2018 but he got hurt in the match against Stoll and toughed it out against Hemida. He was 2-0 against Stoll that year otherwise.

He won a lot of matches on the mat. Great rider. Very smart HWT

it definitely happened, i was in the clarion Rec center watching when it did.

Do you recall how it went down? I don't know anything about Jake Evans but looking at photos of him, he seems to fit the mold of smaller, quicker heavies so was he just getting in on Seth's legs quickly?

Evans was a D3 champ who holds the all-divisions record for career wins with like 180 of them. He was also 28 or 29 years old, and Nevills was wrestling his sixth match of the day (Evans was wrestling his fourth.) I wouldn't read much into the result ... I think Nevills just got grown-manned on the backside of the bracket during his first few months in college.

Evans seems like a tall, lumbering dude from the video I've seen ... I would not say he's from the "smaller, quicker" mold. I can't get the Nevills/Evans video to play in Flo arena, so I can't describe their match. It was a 6-1 final, so it doesn't seem like Seth was able to get much going against him.

Seth appeared to be slightly ahead of Nick at the same stage of their careers, at HS graduation. Snacks is bigger and perhaps slightly more agile. (Should be noted that at PSU, Lighter Nick was more agile and more effective than Heavier Nick.)

We're talking marginal difference, say Nick vs. Jordan Wood, not Nick vs. Snyder difference.

IDK if Nick faced any future college stars. Snacks did, lost a 1 pointer to Cohlton Schultz.

Snacks has 2 major advantages over Nick: his grayshirt year and his lack of injuries.

Nick had 1 major advantage over Seth: HWT is a much tougher weight now, with more good wrestlers who are also better athletes. Both match up well against the statues, but there are fewer statues.

This is not to slam Nick. He was a 2x AA despite the injuries and despite having 3 Senior World Medalists at the same weight. He would've been a 3x AA except the champ was his teammate. That's a pretty good career.

I don't see that loss in his history on Wrestlestat:

Wrestler's results are only entered if:

1) Wrestler is on a D1 (or D2) roster
2) The opponent is on a D1 or D2 roster

For Seth, his first 2 "seasons" on WrestleStat he was wrestling for a club, ie not affiliated with college or PSU. Therefore, any matches he wrestled vs non-D1/D2 athletes were not entered into the system. With it being a manual process, that's a VERY DEEP rabbit hole to go down trying to get all of those matches...

Now, if someone wants to pay our yearly salaries.....................

Seth is undoubtedly bigger but imo Nick definitely moves around better and is the more athletic of the two.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, of course, but I think I'll side w/ coach on this one:
“I’m excited to watch him wrestle,” Sanderson said. “We watched his brother, he’s just a bigger version — don’t tell Nick — he’s a little bit more athletic. They just come from a family of winners, and I’m excited to see him go. He’s fun to watch wrestle.”

I hope you didn't take my comment "it didn't get recorded for some reason" as a slight. Every wrestling fan sincerely appreciates what you guys do and the time and effort you guys put in a great system.

Cassioppi and Snacks have only wrestled twice correct? They are 1-1?

Seth has been wrestling with some pretty good partners over the last two years so I will very disappointed if he doesn’t deliver.

Not a slight against Nick at all, and it is just an opinion. I was also not insinuating that the freshman Seth is better than the Senior Nick.

As a transplant to California I have followed both at the HS level, and I think when all is said and done Seth will have a slightly better career.
