Seth has been wrestling with some pretty good partners over the last two years so I will very disappointed if he doesn’t deliver.

Was he able to wrestle in the room as a gray shirt last year?

As long as he was in the NLWC, and met criteria, he could be in the Penn State room, not unlike all the NLWC resident athletes, I believe. He would not be in the room as a rostered PSU student-athlete, up to 20 hours per week.

I've been saying this for years and everytime it gets likes. I'm so glad your post is a 5 to 1 ratio.
By the principle of “moose turd pie”, you have just volunteered to come up with one new inside joke! :)

(And I hope it is better than “Honey, where are my pants?” :) )

Nah, the best ones are organic, such as Spyker or Guns or Vodka.

If you define "organic" as covered in manure, I won't dispute that.

But if Raw Daddy does come up with one inside joke, ...

Then we likely win the team title? Wouldn't you say? ;)

Very solid debut,!Byers mentioned he weighed in close to 260 and he certainly knew how to use that weight in riding.

For almost 260, he carries the weight well and is still mobile. I think he can outperform Nick over their careers (hopefully in PSU singlet).

Seth appeared to be slightly ahead of Nick at the same stage of their careers, at HS graduation. Snacks is bigger and perhaps slightly more agile. (Should be noted that at PSU, Lighter Nick was more agile and more effective than Heavier Nick.)

We're talking marginal difference, say Nick vs. Jordan Wood, not Nick vs. Snyder difference.

IDK if Nick faced any future college stars. Snacks did, lost a 1 pointer to Cohlton Schultz.

Snacks has 2 major advantages over Nick: his grayshirt year and his lack of injuries.

Nick had 1 major advantage over Seth: HWT is a much tougher weight now, with more good wrestlers who are also better athletes. Both match up well against the statues, but there are fewer statues.

This is not to slam Nick. He was a 2x AA despite the injuries and despite having 3 Senior World Medalists at the same weight. He would've been a 3x AA except the champ was his teammate. That's a pretty good career.

I agree with Jefe that in the limited action I’ve seen of Seth he appears ahead of Nick as a freshman. I also feel he’s a bit more athletic than Nick .... l expect he will have a very successful career. And if he’s 260 (according to Byers) he carries it really well for a 19/20 year old kid

I thought Seth looked very good last night. I'd agree with Cael's assessment that he's bigger and even a touch more athletic than Nick. That said, the strength of the heavyweight division has grown by leaps an bounds in just the two seasons since Nick wrestled. Seth will definitely have his work cut out for him, but I believe he's up for the challenge. By that, I mean there's just three or four guys against whom he'd be a massive underdog.

Nittanychris, Not sure if Kyle Snyder and Gwiz would concur.

Glad Seth is here getting applauded for his work.

Well 2 years ago Gwiz wasn't around. Look at the rankings today as far as depth. I don't think one can reasonably argue the competition isn't stiffer at 285 today.

To be completely fair, Nick had to contend with one more world medalist -- Coon.

But only for Nick's JR year due to Coon's shirt and Nick's FR injury.

Meanwhile, Steveson and Parris both won world gold at their age groups. The big difference now is the number and athleticism of guys at the next level below them.

I am afraid that I am one of the offending parties when it comes to this. It is just irresistible, especially when you can tie a couple of memes together. After all, Sam Stoll didn’t just shoot himself.
