our local community was told to clear an area for public housing or lose funding. The public housing was going to be earmarked for immigrants. The funding was coming from the feds. Our little city council pushed back and that funding went to other locations in Ohio, I suspect one of those may have been Springfield. The net result of that is that my property tax went up over 10% as the community needed to recover those lost revenue sources. This is one of the sources for my laughing at Kamala's plan to cap rent increases to 5%. Hard to do that when your costs go up between 10% and 20%. So what will people do? They'll sell the home and that will drive up rent prices (supply and demand).
