Ok gents! First let me say I believe both of these kids can win the whole thing. I believe that. They’ve both given 100% but you can only choose 1. I gotta believe whoever steps out against Buffalo is our entrant to NCAA’s. Who ya got?

I vote Shakraken

In order for Penn State to beat Ohio State, they need bonus points, especially with the situations at 125 and 133 as well as Nolf's uncertain status. Given that need and given the fact that Rasheed also beat Cassar in wrestle-offs, I would say you have to go with Rasheed.

Shak. But the Cassar against Moore looked darn good. PSU coaches will make the right decision. Hats off to both of them and Cutch. You can clearly see them rooting for one another.

Gotta be determined by a wrestle-off, don't you think?

Two very deserving wrestlers who are doing a great job; the good news is that the chosen one can go a long way in the national tournament

I was impressed how Shak physically pummeled a quality Wilke & maintained the gas tank to get that final double leg + major.

Gotta run w Shak.

I think they already decided on the Shraken after the wrestle off, but they gave Cassar the best thing they could instead of a post season. And he capitalized.

Shaq has been the most consistent with bonus and big wins and that has to count. Cassar has had a big win but also some head scratchers where he should have separated himself. Regardless, Cael sees it all...little I can offer

I think Shak eliminates any second guessing. He won the wrestle off and I don't think we see another given the chance at injury. Going in Shak obviously has the most bonus potential. If it happened to be Cassar and he doesn't make it to the semis I think there will be more second guessing the decision. Lets hope regardless, both are back next year for another round. Cael goes toe to toe with both in the room daily so he will make the best decision regardless. Cassar will always be in my Hall of Fame memory for what he did for us last week, a career setting victory.

If it was simple a case of beating Moore then I suspect the choice would be Cassar. But his inability to get off the bottom, lack of bonus points, some times a bit of reluctance to stay offensive and his wrestle off losses to Shakur almost insures Shakur being the man going forward pending a dinged up Shakur.

Love them both and I'd hate to have to make that decission!

Anyone have any insight on Shak's eligibility? I could have sworn earlier in the season I saw him listed as a junior, but tonight btn had him as a soph.

Junior....Redshirted in 2014/2015....Has competed during parts of the last three seasons.
Thanks. I was aware of that, but I also knew he went down with injury early last season and only wrestled a handful of matches. I wasn't sure if he possibly got a waiver, but it's also very possible it was just a typo by btn listing him as a soph tonight.

Shak and I feel strongly that it's not even debatable.

Cassar is cutting pretty good, Shak isn't.. That's an overriding factor in tournaments between two equal wrestlers and by all accounts, they aren't equal. Shak's a little better.

People keep saying how hard of a decision this year, but when one guy is routinely beating the other in wrestle offs and that same guy is capable of more bonus points, and that same guy doesn't have to cut weight, why is it difficult?

Unless he's not 100% fit and healthy, it's a no-brainer.

Didn't Shak have both years cut short by season ending injuries? He may be able to get a sixth year after next season.

I will tell you one thing. Shak scared the living sh** out of me last night with his knee in that scramble. He needs to avoid situations like that if he gets the call.

Agree. My wife actually gasped and looked away when his knee twisted. But I don’t want him to change anything. I think he should be the guy going forward and let it all fly out on the mat knowing how hard hes had to work to get the oppurtunity

Only last year. Two years ago it was the cut. He didn't wrestle much his RS year, so maybe he'd be eligible, but I think it would be a longshot. Even if Cassar doesn't stick around, Beard can wrestle right away

I agree that Rasheed should be the starter but Cassar did beat the tOSU guy who happens to be ranked #1.

Rasheed is the better wrestler and bonus scorer; however, I do think he is more prone to injuries than Cassar. Given the injury concern this is tough call, but I'll stick with Shakur and hope the coaches can find some way to keep Cassar happy and in the lineup next year.

My feelings exactly.

Ahhh, well, because the other guy just knocked off the #1 wrestler helping the team to keep the dual steak going, had an inspiring battle back from a rough road of injuries, and from where I sit, is a great team player.

When Cael makes his decision, the one who isn't picked will obviously be disappointed. But I've been remarkably impressed with how they have both supported each other and really how everyone on this team pulls for each other.

I'd also say they have both been a huge part of the team's success this year. I'll never forget the pandemonium that ensued at the Rec after Anthony beat Moore.... my favorite memory so far from this season.

My hope is that whomever is selected has a healthy post season run. I can't disagree with those saying odd man out transfers. But I'm selfishly hoping they'll both be back next year.

Sorry for the sentimentality....I'm just a huge fan of both of these guys and sorry that one of them won't be able to go.

Shame one of them will have to sit things out. They’ve helped each other become two of the best 197s in the country and one nobody will want to face at Bigs and Nationals. I’m on board with whatever Cael decides but damn, I just get pumped when I know Rasheed is in the lineup. I love watching him wrestle.

Purely hypothetical for the sake of discussion, but what if next year Bo takes one for the team and somehow gets back down to 74, Hall RS, Shak at 84 and Cassar 97. I know it's far fetched because Bo has likely outgrown 174, I just wish there was a way to get both Shak and Cassar into the lineup.
