Only listened to Ironheads broadcast. He felt Shakur's knee was bent severely and match should have been stopped for potentially dangerous. Only mention this cause Rasheed really seemed to be overwhelmed
after it happened. Can anyone comment on what happened or was it just the tank running low.

I thought Ironhead had emphasized that Rasheed had cut a lot of weight, and that might be the reason for him tiring. I honestly did not know he was hurt. I hope the young man doesn't struggle.

Corey (Shakur) has always been comfortable in those positions he wrestled Cam Tessari in a practice during his senior season and got into a similar situation and when the coaches went to stop it his reply was that he wasn't in any danger

From the arena, it was clearly gas. He was having trouble even walking off the mat without his legs buckling (and starting going to the wrong bench). His brain wasn't getting enough oxygen.

Neither. Weight cut and adrenaline. Hard for me to believe anyone would question the conditioning of any wrestlers with the coaches we have. Anyone slacking on their conditioning would not be taking the mat for PSU.

...this performance was one of the reasons I was hoping he would have had a full bout vs Lock Haven...

...it takes a while to learn how to pace oneself in a longer collegiate match...

...he went full-bore for two periods but struggled the last full minute...

...he will learn from this match ...no doubt...

...even Cary Kolat had trouble going a full bout early on...

This +1000. No one in the PSU room is "out of wrestling shape" (with the possible exception of Jan Johnson). However, as Nova points out, different factors can make a wrestler run out of gas. The weight cut (dehydration) is a prime suspect - there are studies out there that show a weight cut of 5% of your body weight within 24 hours of performance can result in a 20% reduction in endurance. Also, adrenaline may have been a big factor. First really big match for PSU in a really big setting - he really didn't get a chance to go on Friday. He came out very strong and probably used up a ton of energy in the first and second periods. Hopefully, once he gets settled in this won't continue to be a problem. You never know.

Agree NoVa. Cael stated as much after the dual.

Do I think that he is out of shape? Doubtful. Does it really matter if you cant get your adrenaline/weight/whatever under control? Absolutely not. We have seen instances where PSU wrestlers were never able to find the answer to this. I hope this is different.
