I used to think that long hair would be a detriment in football, but it doesn’t seem so. In wrestling, I think it would hurt the kid with the hair more than the other wrestler, so let it be their choice

if I remember, It is not illlegal to make a tackle by grabbing hair. The NFL said the hair is the players choice and if it was illegal players could grow long hair and reduce effective tackle area..... You can’t make a horse collar anyway so unless the hair was Polamalu long and Larry Johnson can grab it....it doesn’t matter.

What that means for wrestling, idk. And I have to agree I don’t really think about it.

Unless it was WWE greased up.

Agree! How many oldsters remember riding the Beetles wave and growing their hair much longer in the 60’s-70’s. Humm .... now they have become their parents and want the youngsters to cut their hair. Damn .... let the kids be kids! Longer hair doesn’t influence the wrestling action one bit!

Heading into the MAC tournament my senior year in 1972, a ref came up to me before weigh-ins and announced, “Son, you will have to get your hair cut. Looks like it will touch your shirt collar.” I ended up not making the Eastern’s. Still think cutting that 1/2 inch of hair cost me some strength - similar to Samson!
