SIAP: Bo will be a guest analyst during Big Ten Champs for the BTN

On another note.... I would pay literally anything to see Bo out on the mat in a Lion singlet one more time. I got the last picture with Bo at Rec Hall his senior year. He was as gracious and considerate a human being... who also happens to be a Super Star... that I've ever had the privilege to meet. He had just finished an interview with Jeff Byers and my girlfriend was in LOVE with BO and still is even though he's married and my gf is now my wife. I told Bo... the pic was for her... when in all reality it was for me. So many contradictions in this story. Bo graciously waited until I got my phone out of my pocket, graciously put his arm around me and we took a picture I'll remember for life. Total class, my camera wouldn't focus properly and he just waited patiently and then wished me well and I said the same going into the post season. I still look at that pic and think how that moment in time still matters so much to me today. He's one of KIND!!!! I'll never forget the phenomenal human being he is along with the incredible, talented wrestler he is.

It's what we do!

I hope Penn State wins some "big matches" at Big Ten's and puts a Bo Nickal stamp on the championships. Nothing would make Bo happier than celebrating with his brother's in the Blue and White. Bo never felt the pressure to perform. Let's hope our young men take some insight from Bo while at the Big Ten's. I know he'll have some great things to say to Penn State's guys while preparing in the room for the "SHOW". And then the "BIG SHOW". You go to Penn State to win titles. I think no message is better.

As we prepare for the Big Ten's... remember what Bo did his senior season at the Big Ten's. Let's hope that our guys peak as Bo did at Big Ten's.... as Jason did.... as the team seems to do every year. And at National's.

While we're at it.

I was asked the other day who my favorite penn state wrestler was. That's a difficult question but in the end I would have to so bo. You just couldn't look away or the match was over. Can't count how many times I had to hit rewind in one of his matches just to figure out what he just did lol. All time great for sure.

Would you mind posting that pic of Bo ? TIA

I concur. Some wrestlers are national champs because they're outstanding wrestlers and they're better than the rest of the weight class that specific year...we've all seen it. Some years a weight class is very tough and other years, not so much (kind of like 125 this year). Bo Nickal was one of the real greats...one of those guys who would have won NCAAs at his weight regardless of which years he wrestled and how tough the weight class. Bo always brought his best to NCAAs.

You have a point. While Bo tormented the Hawkeyes he made crushing the Buckeyes' spirt into an art form.

This board has given Sammy Brooks a ton of props though. Dude had balls and a very exciting style and seems like a fantastic (and hilarious) person. Quickest way to get pinned by Bo is to recklessly shoot on him but Sammy would rather get pinned knowing he was attacking than stall his way to a close match.

I remember back to NCAA’s in NYC and the social afterwards. He had just lost a soul crushing match but he was there and was very gracious and polite to everyone, when you know he just wanted to be back in his hotel room by himself. It was a celebration, but it didn’t feel that way for him.

I got my picture with him at the special tie breaking freestyle match Zain had with Yianni in WB. Anthony (and his toothpic) too!

I asked myself what Zain would do.

Between Zain, Jason, Bo, and Cassar, do the Buckeyes have any spirit left to crush?
You can also factor in losing Capt America to NLWC and Kerkules to us! They should be low enough to limbo under a snake belly!

I can’t wait for Bo to throw down with an emphatic “ That’s how we do it” when a Penn State wrestler wins a big match by fall.

I remember posting the Bo-Brooks match was going to be fun because Sammy was coming to wrestle. People who willingly wrestle Bo present opportunities that Bo rarely misses. Both times Bo and Sammy had a go Sammy came trying to win, never trying to not lose.

That style of wrestling is what - at times - has made watching PSU wrestling so frustrating as a Hawks fan. It's changed in the past couple years as Iowa wrestlers have really started putting up points, but prior to that so many of our wrestlers would hand-fight their way to close matches (win or lose) instead of letting it fly like Taylor, Ruth, Bo, Zain, Nolf, Hall, etc., always did. Fans/spectators want to see the action, and in reality it needs to happen if we're to keep our sport alive especially during these times when schools are cutting certain collegiate sports. Wouldn't it be a great thing to see more colleges selling out there wrestling venues than just PSU and Iowa. It's like the movie, Gladiator, these other colleges need to "win the crowd."

OH THANK GOD!!!! I thought you were going to say Billy Baldwin and Quint Quessnick!! If I have to hear one more damn story about them wrestling on Long Island in the 80s I may put my foot through my flat screen!!!
I like Baldwin, he knows a sh!tload re: Penn St wrestling history and is an admitted fan. Count that as an ‘open door’ to being best buds from me
