For those of you who travel to State College for Penn State events and spend the night(s), bad news for you all. The Centre County hotel tax was just raised from 2.5% to 5%. So if you pay $300/night with a two night minimum during football season, that'll be an extra $15 per weekend or $120 for the entire home schedule. Taxing the out-of-towners is the best way to keep the natives happy.

I blame Norm.

Still one of the absolute cheapest rates in the country and B1G territory. Before today, only Bedford County had a cheaper rate and they have no hotels! Annual average rate is SC is less than $125. It’s needed to bring more events and weekday meetings to the area. Hotel community is losing business to other areas.

For graduation weekend these crooks are charging nearly $1000 per night with two night minimum.

Avg annual rate is so low because there’s no demand 340 days of the year and no hotel can get $75 a night those days.

cities do this all the time. travel to any airport and check out the local taxes on hotels and car rentals. They know the voters, locally, don't care because their taxes aren't the ones going up. I don't stay in SC on game weekends, I find a place 30 to 45 minutes out of town. Works great and is 1/4 the price.

unfortunately the SC hotels rob their patrons on football weekends, graduation and other high demand moments. White Out = $1,000/night hotel rooms.

I blame
