SIAP: Univ of Michigan looking at $26.1 MM deficit....

40% of that loss is the money they spent on updating their Garmin system to make sure it showed Indianapolis Indiana. The previous iterations of their mapping programs did not have that function.
waste of money, as they will never need it

For Michigan football, this is like Bigfoot. They've heard rumors it exists but won't be convinced until they see it for themselves. But third place is OK too.

If we don't have football this fall maybe we could just keep the schedules and each week post how many millions the teams scheduled to play that week are in debt and pretend they're football scores.

If there is no football Look for huge shortfalls, even if the season is reduced look for cuts. Football makes the money but it also spends the most, if you start cutting games or a season look for NCAA D1 schools cutting sports to get to the minimum.

Harbaugh should take a bigger pay cut. I would say the same thing for all head coaches. $8m per year is ridiculous to begin with. I think he could get by with $5m for a year. Franklin and others should take similar cuts. JMO.

It's interesting that they assumed a 50% reduction in spectator admissions. They might want to increase that to a 75% decrease.
These guys work on contracts-It’s simply a matter of Restructuring their contracts by cutting their salary this year and tacking it on in the back end.

I sort of agree but I'm not quite how to do that with football coaches.

I took an executive job with a company facing bankruptcy. I recall being literally out of cash so the top executives all agreed to take a 50% pay cut for 6 months so we could pay our creditors and keep key people employed. Nothing was added on the back end but we all profited from a rising stock price as we turned things around. I'm not sure how you ever get back the lost ticket revenues (say 70,000 fewer fans per game this year). You might get back to 100,000 going forward but I don't think you get an extra 10,000 per year (110,000 total) for the next 7 years to make up for this year's loss. That's why I think these guys need to take a hit.

Contracts are certainly a problem. They were a big problem with MLB. Players wanted 50% of their pay for plaing half a season. The problem is that owners won't get 50% of revenues. They got TV money but no ticket sales, parking, concessions, etc.

The devil is in the details with coach’s contracts. There is also conference money that comes in to each school.

The MLB players are part of a Union so that is a different contracting scenario.

Don’t know about your particular employment situation.
