Per DigNittanyVB, Taylor Leath, a 6'3" OH, has transferred to PennState from UNC and will begin classes next week. Taylor was a 2016 All-American and I think her home town is State College (may be wrong). This was rumored in February, but became official this week. Picture to be posted shortly.

JonZ,
How does this coming year's team look?
Any chance for a NC run?
Who are the core players, after the graduation losses from last year?
Thks

There were significant losses last year due to graduation and Kendall White may be the only returner that will start. However, the 8 freshmen coming in may be almost as good as the group that came in 4 years ago. This team should get better as the year goes on, but can they make a run at the NC. I wouldn't bet on it. There are people on this board more knowledgeable than me that may answer your questions.

As she is from State College, was she recruited by Russ coming out of high school? Just curious.

When the class of 4 years ago enrolled at PennState, there did not seem to be a lot of interest in good volleyball players coming to PennState. Reid and Weiskircher are still left from that class and White, Gorrell and Holcomb are the only quality players that PennState recruited the next 3 years. She may have been recruited coming out of high school, but with Washington, Frantti, Lee, Thelan and Reed just Sophomores there probably was not a lot of interest on her part. Just a guess.

Thanks, Jon. Much appreciated. Good info., as usual.

You don't have to sit out a year when transferring for volleyball.

As a practical matter that is correct. Volleyball has a one-time transfer exception. Had the athlete transferring used that exception on a previous transfer the athlete would have to sit out a year.
