He’s Captain America and deserving of the moniker. Is Captain America the best super hero of all time? Debatable — like all matters of opinion. There will always be legitimate arguments that another super hero was/is better, faster, stronger, etc. And Snyder has a cool backstory — first American to win [fill in the blank, youngest American to [fill in the blank], etc. Plus, he’s eminently likable, approachable, humble, authentic, etc. The fact that he shows up (part time) to also dominate his 2nd favorite wrestling discipline AND effectively goes up a weight class to face guys that should be able to thrash him makes his folkstyle accomplishments all the more impressive. Not to mention that he has breathed life into a weight class that has historically been a giant snooze fest.
As for ESPN’s non-stop love fest. I can see how that could get old. Fortunately I’ve avoided that by watching it on mute and listening to Byers PBP.
P.S. I agree that Cael is a terrible interviewee. Which is weird given that he’s so well spoken and likable. But he always seems completely disinterested and eager to shut it down. The only exception is that sometimes when being interviewed by Byers he’s more forthcoming, at ease, less guarded, etc. But for a guy who is indisputably in the conversation as wrestling’s GOAT, Cael needs to elevate his interview game, if for no other reason than to use that platform to further grow the sport. He’s clearly the kind of guy that prefers to let his action and results do the talking. But he’s missing some low hanging fruit by not investing more into his public appearances.
