Singleton needs to be RB1 going forward

Yeah, Kaytron was a wrecking ball against Boise State. I think PSU has this one just about right and both should get a similar number of snaps. Obviously, there will be times when the defense of the team that we're playing would suggest that one or the other might be a better choice and hopefully our coaches are smart enough to figure that out.

I really like playing both in a game, which gives them some rest and allows them to be more effective later in the game when the opposing defense tires. Plus you get the chance to see which one is more effective against that opponent - due to their different styles, it is certainly possible that one or the other will be a more of a problem to a specific opponent.

Against a team blitzing a lot, it is an interesting and not easy choice between them - Singleton allows for a better outlet option for a quick pass to beat the pressure, Allen is the better blocker if you need pass protection.

Soooo....keep em both in there. Let KA block, and Singleton be the outlet guy.

Now that Singleton is healthy it’s pretty clear that he’s our best back right now. He needs to be getting the majority of the snaps as RB, no more splitting snaps 50/50.

Singleton not only is running the ball better than Kaytron but he’s a real threat in the passing game which this offense desperately needs.

Obviously we’ll still mix in Kaytron but the snaps need to be closer to 2/3 Singleton 1/3 Kaytron going forward.
I would stick to the sharing strategy. Keeps them both fresh, and to a certain extent stresses the defense.

Singleton had 42 snaps against Boise--Allen only 28--that has to change.
I don't care if Singleton plays 42 of 68 but they both need to be out there together more often then because for Allen to be on the field less than half the time with how he played is beyond stupid.

We should be able to burn the blitz a little with Singleton in the passing game
"should" is the operative word. Nick got either run over or missed his blocks consistently vs Boise. He was pretty much a disaster on passing plays. The staff didn't mix up Nick getting out into the flat much, which would have required a TE (or two) to stay in and block. Don't want to keep Warren in understandably. But it might have been better to bring in an extra olinemen once it was evident that Boise was bringing 6 and consistently getting to Allar.

Sure need a better plan vs the domers.....
