Sixers fans...a good number of high quality Guards at top of 2017 draft

The idiot Lakers won last night!! That was great. If the Sixers get their pick and have 2 in the top 5 I'll be ecstatic

Assuming the swap option with Sacramento is not protected? Meaning if the Kings jump ahead of the Sixers into the top 3 in the lottery, the Sixers can swap?

Yes, Sixers own all their own balls and all of the Kings balls in order to get in top 3. Need the Lakers out of the top 3.

They need a complement to Simmons; not someone who throws up 30 shots a game. Lots of good ones
coming out.

Mark it down. Their picks won't play next season. It is now a pattern with them. Why anyone buys tickets to that sham of a scam is mind boggling.
the sixers have had some of the worst luck any team could have had over the last two seasons!!! to say that their top pick won't play next year is absurd. Look at Saric when he finally came over he's been in the lineup ever since. Whoever they draft will play and contribute right away unless another major injury happens again.

2013 - Nerlens tore his ACL February 2013, didn't play, MCW played whole season
2014 - Embiid out for season, Saric not over yet
2015 - Okafor played 50-some odd games before getting surgery
2016 - Simmons broke his foot, didn't play, TLC played, Korkmaz didn't come over

Where's the pattern? 2 injuries were known to likely keep the players out for the entire season ahead of time (Nerlens, Embiid), only Simmons was unexpected, and injuries happen.

Sixers aren't in bad shape right now, we'll see what Bryan Colangelo does this summer. I have my doubts but maybe he'll do some good.

I have NO idea what the 76ers are thinking. Clearly the big prize is a healthy Embiid (good luck with that). Okafor is not in their plans. I thought Noel would have been a good fit.
Maybe they have decided to build around Simmons :) In short, a serviceable center with Simmons, Saric and two guards (need a pure shooter and a point) drafted this year and/or next.

They get the Lakers pick this year, in addition to their own, and add a free agent and you're looking at a playoff team next year. A little help from the lottery gods and you could be looking at adding 2 of Fultz/Smith/Ball/Monk/Josh Jackson/Tatum.

Sixers need a TRUE point guard. They should take Fox, that kid is gonna be an NBA stud and he isn't going to demand 15 shots a night.

You can take them seriously. I don't. Trust the process, my arse. Embiid can't play, but he's dancing on stage at a concert. I've had meniscus tears in both knees. That was in my fifties. It didn't take months to get back to work.
The whole NBA is a sham. People pay big bucks for tickets, only to see coaches sit guys in big games. You pay for this scam. I never will, again.

Scenario's

  • Sixers Pick Top 3 AND receive Lakers #4 pick: 8.67%
  • Sixers Pick Top 3 AND receive Lakers #4 OR #5 pick: 25.6%
  • Sixers Pick Top 3 AND receive Lakers #4 OR #5 OR #6 pick: 28.89%
  • Sixers Pick #1 AND receive Lakers #4 Pick: 2.4%
  • Either Sixers Pick #1 OR Sixers have two lottery picks: 58.2%
  • Sixers Pick Top 4 (Incl. SAC odds + Lakers Pick odds): 69.0%(Req. u/matt_will_)

Sixers could also select a forward and go after Philly native FA Dion Waiters. He would be a perfect fit.

Anyone think Stauskas missed the last shot on purpose?

I wonder if they try to put together a package for Jimmy Butler.

If they add Fultz to Simmons and Embiid.....

Kyle Lowry also a Philly native and free agent.

I really hope Nick stepped up like that lol

I really don't want them to package assets for a veteran, no matter how good they are. I think they should continue to build through the draft, whether that's 1 pick or 2 this year.

I agree. Keep the draft picks and sign several key free agents over the next two years.

Please- no Kyle Lowry. No 200 million deals to an over 30 PG coming off an injury.

Its hard to win in the NBA with a team of all young guys out of the draft, but I think in this watered down version of the East, it can be done. Teams around .500 are fighting for 5 seeds.

That being said, if they could stay healthy, they could contend for a playoff spot next year, meaning they get a mid to lower round pick. It might not be such a bad thing if the Lakers pick didn't translate this year, to spread out the lottery guys and contracts. There is talent there next year too.

Or pull off a trade with it.

Personally I hope the keep the draft picks and build a strong, solid, young team. One that can mature together as a team - not a bunch of superstars who the team hopes can get along. I think they have a solid core, they just need a couple guards to round out the talent. If Simmons is really 7', how effective can he be at PG?

More odds and ends.

In the last 35 years, here are the odds of a player becoming an all-star based on being lottery picked from the 1st to 8th pick.

#1 pick 27 out of 35 became all-stars (77%)
#2 pick 12 out of 35 became all-stars (34%)
#3 pick 17 out of 35 became all-stars (49%)
#4 pick 10 out of 35 became all-stars (29%)
#5 pick 11 out of 35 became all-stars (31%)
#6 pick 7 out of 35 became all-stars (20%)
#7 pick 7 out of 35 became all-stars (20%)
#8 pick 4 out of 35 became all-stars (11%)

As for Simmons' height, I don't know exactly how tall he is but I've seen him side by side with Okafor and his shoulders are definitely higher than Jah's.

I've been wondering why the 2nd pick seems to create less all stars than the 3rd. Is it a talent evaluation issue, is it a sample size error (for instance, was there a period in 80s or 90s where 8+ 2nd picks didn't become all stars, and that's throwing off the numbers?). Everything else seems to add up, 4th/5th is indistinguishable, 8th pick is not great.
