Slowed Pokes

"The program needs a dedicated wrestling complex that dwarfs that of those being built by wrestling programs that have nowhere near the tradition of Oklahoma State wrestling."

That would be every other school. The Pokes have won more titles than Iowa and Penn State combined.

They have plenty of money for athletics. Shows how dangerous it is to sit still.....at anything.

True. In what was then (and still might be) the largest single gift to an NCAA athletic program, the Texas oil magnate T. Boone Pickens donated $165 million to OSU in 2006.

34 and Holding has a thread on this, and several posters mention a need for an RTC to go along with an upgraded/new complex. I think they're right.
The RTC is needed more than the complex. If you want to attract elite recruits with international aspirations, you need the RTC to provide that one stop shop for training and it also improves the competition to train against.

I didn't know they don;t have an RTC at OK State. I just assumed they did.

T. Boone Pickens gave Oklahoma State athletics a massive sum. Maybe he has another 100 million or so for it’s wrestling program.

Only if unqualified for the job, since he is qualified - the look is fine.
Not very familiar with his credentials, but we are talking about the most dominant wrestling program in college history, and if I’m a blue chipper (with possible exception to living in Oklahoma) the choice is easy for me when considering everything NLWC has to offer or wrestling at a training center headed by daton’s dad

Ours is headed by Jim Martin, NC and wrestler. What matters is who is on advisory board and resident wrestlers. I see nothing about Fix’s dad that says he can’t assemble a nice staff. If there is a scenario where Pickens throws $15 million at it..:phew...that’s an incredibly good start to get big talent to walk in.

^^ This. Why twist & turn information in an attempt to knock "the other guy". We are blessed at Penn State.

34 and Stalling apparently has better info about the lack of an RTC than the RTC itself does..

They have an RTC. They just do not have any full time resident Senior Level Athletes. Deiringer would be the closest, but he is still on staff as volunteer assistant. That is not on par with the current model of RTC’s.
