So I'm in a bar on Division St in Chicago Friday

My disdain for TnT overspread too far and wrongly gave me satisfaction when Max made Warner squeal. After seeing Warner’s interview after nationals I instantly became a fan and felt horrible that I allowed TnT to influence my opinion of this young man and possibly others.
Jacob's mother is a pretty nice lady, at least that's what PSU Paul says.🙂

I think the story’s cool and I admire Warner for initiating the encounter with his “Nittany Lions Suck”. I give him the benefit of the doubt and think he was just trying to initiate a conversation, as opposed to trying to start a bar fight. The fact that an apparently sane conversation was had and selfies were taken, suggests to me that he was fishing for a conversation not a fight. It’s not always the athletes that carry the hard feelings, sometimes it’s us adults. I applaud Warner for his actions. He could have said nothing and gone back to his bar stool and festered. He didn’t.

PS. 82bordeaux, how good does your fraternity brother feel about being mistaken for Morningstar? How many of us could have been mistaken for a current D1 athlete? I guarantee that nobody says that about me in my current condition.
I tell people wearing Browns stuff they have something that looks like $hit on their clothes. Not one part of me wants to fight them. Good for him.

Area classically known as the Viagra Triangle. A little too “hey baby” for me, but if you like expensive cars and mutilated female bodies and faces it’s must-see Chicago.
This might be the harshest review of a location I've ever read on this board. Maybe we need to include info like this in our travel thread.

I realize now that I come here as much to enjoy the comedy as the Lion insights. It's like stand-up at the Improv. Love the Warner story, all good-natured. Trying to picture the same night with the same shirt on in an Iowa City bar. Not sure it ends as well.

So ... who's up for the 2024 game at USC?

It’s just one perspective. Technically Viagra Triangle is two blocks south. Division makes for an interesting mixing zone. The west side of the zone at Clark is one of those places that feels like there’s a chance you’re going to be confronted by somebody that you don’t want to deal with, but in reality bad stuff isn’t that common. Division is what I associated with Chicago in the mid 90’s before I moved out here in 2004.

There are plenty of reasonable people in IC, unless it’s changed radically from my couple years there. Never felt more threatened than in SC, and I was the outsider in IC.

Yep, @hlstone and I wore PSU stuff around IC before and after the dual in 2022 and I don’t remember anyone making a comment around town. Maybe one somewhat mild one after the meet while waiting for an Uber. Inside things got a little heated at one point of the meet but then settled down. Of course that was the meet with the thrown beer.

All at once or did you take turns? o_O
