So the SEC wants to block Harbaugh's practices at IMG

Teams are allowed to go on foreign tours every four years. Teams are not allowed to scrimmage against other teams. NCAA rules are clear on both matters.
I think it's every other year not every 4. MI basketball went to Europe the summer of 2012 and 2014. And yeah they're not scrimmages they're "exhibition" games, which are essentially the same

Foreign tours have their own specific rules, so your point about definition of the contests is irrelevant.

Check your calendar and the rules before you write about things of which you have no clue.

What are you mad about? I told you with complete honesty that UM basketball went to europe summer of 2012 and 2014. And yes exhibition games are very similar to a practice. I came here in piece geez why the condescending attitude

You don't know the rules and you don't even know when your team traveled through Europe. I have no patience for fools.

OK so you don't know that UofM basketball went to europe in 2012 and 2014 got it. Don't be salty because you're wrong.

Honest question not trolling but why does Michigan going to Florida for some spring practices bother you so much? The SEC also doesn't want satellite camps that Franklin and Harbaugh both did. I'm just wondering what the big issue is. If it was any other team would it be a problem. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
What bothers me, and it would bother me if Franklin did it, is they are going directly to a high school campus to practice. A high school which is a thinly disguised football factory.
For example, the kid from Wyoming Valley West is NOT going there for a better education. He has stated as much. He is going there to be better prepared for college football. If that is not an athletic transfer, I don't know what it is. Next thing is, his parents only have to foot the room and board, which is $4K out of a total bill of $51K. Who is picking up the rest of that tab? Obviously, IMG has some major "sponsors." The school couldn't survive if all the kids paid only the room and board costs. What do these sponsors want in return? I hate to think it is directly these kids to certain schools.
The coach's association of Texas has already decided to not play them at all. Why? Because they came to Texas to play Allen High School, then stole the best player on the team. When this level of recruiting begins happening at the high school level, it is time to reset priorities. I would rather see football die, then to see this only get worse. My opinion. You're entitled to yours.

We treat you like what you are.

If I'm a troll, and I get treated like garbage on another team's site, I probably won't go back there again. Hell, I got banned from the Pitt Pantherlair even though I went out of my way to post in such a way that I wouldn't get banned. I wasn't trolling and got tossed.
I've posted on the Michigan board. I've been treated fairly, for the most part, but there are always some guys who treat you like garbage too. It goes with the territory.

And NCAA rules allow Michigan to go to Fl which is why the SEC wants to change it. My question is why is it bad for Michigan to go to Fl, which is within the rules, and the Penn St. baseball team can go to Cuba over Thanksgiving? If it's bad for the football team it should be bad for the baseball team. Are you in favor in changing the rules for all sports?

The funny part is besides a few here you can actually have a conversation, then crazy shows up

Don't expect much besides insults, there are some pissed off people in this thread

I wonder how you guys would react if Harbaugh scheduled a game in, say, Ireland? I'm sure that wasn't disruptive to the student athletes....

Whatever I am, it's not someone who is too lazy and stupid to look up facts before I make an argument.

I'm in favor of getting rid of the NCAA, but that's another discussion entirely.

I've said from the beginning that Michigan isn't violating any rules by holding practice at IMG. No sure if it's a good idea, though, impinging on the kids' vacation time and then holding practice where there will be more than a few distractions. But Harbaugh can do what he wants as long as he produces results.

Again, Michigan is within the rules. Bringing extraneous examples that are governed by different rules is not a good way of making a case.

Jesus, do you do English, too?

Probably not much more than a road game on the West Coast, particularly since there were no classes the following Monday.

That doesn't make any sense, obviously your grasp of the English language is poor. Just letting the anger flow must help you, so please continue with insults and trolling

Well, it wasn't disruptive, since the fall semester had not begun yet. It was played on August 29, 2014.

What Michigan is proposing IS within the rules that's why the SEC wants to CHANGE the rules. If I am wrong please point out the rule they are breaking.

In this thread we've now established that, Art is mad, and its OK for PSU baseball to go to Cuba over Thanksgiving break (a real holiday) but not for UofM Football to go to Florida for spring break.

You should contact the Bursar's Office at UMich and request a refund of the entire sum of tuition payments you made to them. Present your contributions to this thread as evidence of educational malpractice on their part.

I get that but you don't seem to be concerned about Penn St. Missing Thanksgiving why is it different. Both are within the rules and both are impinging on the kids vacation time?

Yes, I approved of the timing of PSU baseball trip to Cuba in 2015. You can find that in the same place that you found that Michigan basketball traveled to Europe in 2012.

Frankly, I don't pay attention to PSU baseball and don't ever recall making a comment about its trip to Cuba. You should consult with mr troof because he obviously knows where to find it.

So much anger, you'd think you'd be able to come up with a better insult with your extensive educational background. Troll on

The only thing in the thread you quoted that has anything to do with you is this little section here " Art is mad" which is 100% fact judging by the multiple insults you continue to spew

Scholar, where have I said that Michigan's trip violates the rules? My comments, which you cited, are relative to an otherwise irrelevant example posited by one of your fellow alums.

Honestly, the inability of you guys to stick to a logical train of thought and make a coherent argument in support of something really diminishes the esteem in which I hold Michigan as an institution of higher education.

Learn the difference between fact and opinion. That you are stupid and lazy can never be borne out as fact., even though you have provided much evidence in support of that proposition.

But you do purport that the reason you are concerned with what Michigan is doing is because it impinges on the kids vacation so why is it only an issue in this case. As I pointed out Penn St. Baseball missed Thanksgiving so by your standard you should be concerned about those kids as well or is your concern only for Michigan football players?

Concerned? No, I think it's a bad idea, but I really don't care.

Big issue is IMG - the "High School" that pays for the best players in the country - many from the NE ... and the advantage that Hardboiled would have with a week on their campus.
