There are 2 types of transgender people. Let's call Type 1 those who were born as a male and now identify as a female. That makes Type 2 those who were born female and now identify as a male.
Type 2 transgenders can easily be accommodated: simply declare all male bathrooms to be open to everyone. Men don't care who sees them in the bathroom. It wouldn't matter a bit to me if I was at a urinal and a woman walked in. It wouldn't matter a bit to me if I was sitting on a toilet and a woman opened the door. I don't care and I doubt that most other men care either. This would solve half the problem.
Accommodating Type 1 transgenders is most more difficult. I mentioned this to my wife and she bristled. She thinks there would be many heterosexual males who would dress as females and enter women's bathrooms just to be peeping Toms. I have to agree with her. Thus, I don't have a solution to accommodate the Type 1 transgenders. Any other ideas out there?
