Well, something like that.
So it looks like I have contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease.
And no, I'm not 18 months old. But, my daughter is, as are all of her wonderful daycare playmates! And I have a sneaking suspicion that those little cesspools of germs and dormant viruses are responsible for this malady.
All that said, don't you guys worry about me. Other than feeling like I'm eating shards of glass and the rashes all over my hands, I'm just fine. Thank you for asking, that was thoughtful of you.
But, as it turns out, United Airlines is NOT particularly keen on shooting me 35,000 feet in the air in an aluminum can with a hundred other susceptible passengers. So with that in mind, I will not be attending tomorrow's Cotton Bowl media day. And for that matter, I will not be attending the head coaches press conference on Friday. Nor will I be attending the game on Saturday.
Dave Eckert, our absolutely outstanding student intern for the past four years, will be there in my place for, at minimum, the game. He won't make it in time for the media day tomorrow, however, so we are just going to do our absolute best given the circumstances while acknowledging we'll likely fall short of our competition (edit: for media day only, since we won’t be there... otherwise, it’s par for the course with Dave.)
For that, I'm very sorry.
We are working out all of the details right now in getting all of the travel arrangements set up, but tentatively speaking, that's our plan of attack.
