I was just watching a clip on Flo with some behind-the-scenes footage as David Taylor was warming up in preparation to wrestle Myles Martin at the event last month. David was talking about his warm-up routine before matches and how over the years he has found a system that works best for him. He has mentioned this topic before as it relates to his NCAA Finals match against Dake, but I found it interesting to hear again that he felt how he warmed up before the Dake match negatively affected his performance. He said he "warmed up too many times" and became "hyped up" and "tired", and it was a "hard" but "good" learning lesson for him.
As a fan I enjoy hearing wrestlers talk about their wrestling careers and individual matches, especially after enough time has elapsed that they are a little more transparent about how they felt about the match. I find this especially true regarding whether a wrestler was sick or injured for the match or any other information that might shine some light on the match. What is perceived by some fans, rightly or wrongly, as an excuse or in poor taste if said by a wrestler immediately or not long after the match, doesn't seem to be an issue as time rolls by. I think the passage of time encourages wrestlers to be more open about these things, and benefits us all as fans.
