Some service reporting Gable Steveson considering a return to Gophers for last year of eligibility.

Why wouldn't you come back and do the Kyle Snyder thing? If he wrestles 8 matches prior to Big Tens it is looked at as more normal now than ever. If you can get NIL money and hang out in college why not. There are worse places to be.

Would rather have GS go wrestle Final X and make Team USA.

But he wouldn’t get a big bag of NIL cash dropped at his feet to wrestle for his country.

I don't see where cash has anything to do with his decision as he will make more in MMA than he could possibly get from NIL or endorsements for winning a World Title, since he already has Olympic Gold.

He’s clearly fishing for a monster NIL payday to return.

“Maybe I’ll return. Maybe I won’t. Hey, let’s run a story in the local paper… Show me the $$$$$”

Glad Jammenz lost his shirt on those “GOOFERS NCAAs CHAMPS” t-shirt deal a few years ago.

IMO, he will not wrestle internationally again until he is already established in the WWE because right now he is this hot commodity, has not lost in a few years, gold medal, NCAA championships, etc. It is a bit less attractive to the WWE if he is coming off a loss at worlds which would be a distinct possibility. He is way less likely to lose in NCAA season.

If it happens that really stinks for Kerk. I thought next year he'd be at the top of the podium.
No. It really stinks for Iowa. That's Cass who your speaking about. It's just another guy who knocks another iowa guy down a spot on the podium. The fallout is basically the same as last year actually come seeding time: Greg will need to beat Cass at the Bigs or in duals to avoid Gable until Sat night in Tulsa

Don’t forget that Schultz is in the mix too. His wrestling style might not be the most endearing thing to watch, but he still has a way of winning the big ones.

He's wrestling international freestyle in 2 weeks, no?

And yet more drama surrounding this guy.
(He would've fit in so well with the Ferrari clowns.)

I dunno man, that seems to be a pretty harsh comparison. It's not really high drama when someone doesn't work out at their job. He did have that one allegation, but it didn't result in any charges at all--unlike at least a couple of Ferraris. If anything, I'd expect him to become as staple on the UWW scene for a while now (unless his withdrawl from worlds and WWE is health related, of course). Or maybe we'll get a Cassar vs Steveson matchup in an octogon soon....

Gable and WWE never quite made sense to me. He is an incredible wrestler. He is also a good speaker and I think he would do well at the part. My "problem" is that fake wrestling heavyweights are usually very big And/or absolutely ripped. Gable is noticably shorter that the WWE heavyweights. Having to look up 4 to 6" at your rival is not very intimdating. As far as being ripped.......Gable is strong and athletic and more fit than previously but is still pretty round in the middle. There have been Heavyweight stars who were round but guys like Andre and Big Show etc. Had massive size. Are fans going to buy into Gable's story? I am not fully convinced. I agree that wrestling internationally and getting beat would severely hurt his story. Another undefeated NCAA gold would help a little and keep his name in the news.....but..... LOSING at NCAAs would be a disaster. Highly unlikely but it will be interesting to watch it unfold. If I had to bet.....I would agree with the scenario that he will not wrestle the real stuff again and will get "promoted" sooner as part of that deal. Of course....I have been wrong (almost always) before :)
