Some teams said to already be withdrawing from NCAA wrestling.....

Off subject, I imagine most wrestlers would qualify for a year back under the hardship rule if they don't even get to wrestle NCAAs. Would any of our seniors hypothetically even want to come back? Hall and Cenzo both look super ready to move on. Shak is already in a 6th year. I don't think Cenzo's mom can take another year of watching like she does aha. On the flip side, I bet someone like Lugo would 100% want to ...

Zahid Valencia says, 'me too??'

The NCAA gets no additional money for the Wrestling championship and would lose no monies for the cancellation.
Are you sure about that? I believe wrestling is in a bundle of championships regarding the television contract with the NCAA. I thought cities basically bid on hosting the championships. If they are bidding, I would think that the NCAA is getting money from it. Cancel the tournament and Minneapolis might want some money back.

I think you are correct that they are in a bundle with ESPN tv rights. You can see it on the NCAA financials. Doesn't call out wrestling but it's in that contract.

I would imagine that NCAA teams have the ability to monitor participant health, practice appropriate social distancing/quarantine, etc. both before and after championship events that risk to themselves, as well as others, could be on the low end.
The risk is already on the low end for the participants and the workers just need common sense. However, the hysteria around this will mean if a kid is confirmed then his whole team and anyone around him is a suspect and they will not be able to go etc. etc. etc.

If the following scenario occurs how epic would the HR meltdown be?
1) NCAA cancels this years tourney and no champion is named.
2) PSU roars to the team title next year and, technically, the streak of nattys continues uninterrupted
3) Scientists find a crater where the state if Iowa used to reside

The Yellowstone Supervolcano would be envious of the resulting explosion

This would be the one sport I can see it. When you have to cut weight and get a little dehydrated to make weight your immune system may be down a little. Lose the first match and get into the backside.

How many 70+ year old wrestlers with health issues are there?

Havent figured out how to post a pic either? Join the club.

Duke and Kansas just suspended ALL sports. That essentially makes the decision on them canceling the Bball tourney. No way they go ahead with wrestling. It will be cancelled or postponed, and they see how this plays out.
