Over on HR it has been posted that word out of Columbia that Cox has never traveled out of the county and has no passport can he get one in 2 days to go to Mongolia to qualify the weight? Seems like hard to do.

For you and me it might be a problem. For an Olympic athlete it will get done and timely at that.

Even for you and me, there is an expedited process for situations like this, but there is a cost associated.

You had to have a valid passport in order to compete in the team trials.

ATHLETE SELECTION PROCEDURES

1. SELECTION SYSTEM
1.1. Provide the minimum eligibility requirements for an athlete to be considered
for nomination to the Team:
1.1.1. Nationality/Passport requirements:
Athlete must be a national of the United States at the time of nomination.
Athlete must hold a valid U.S. passport that will not expire for six
months after the conclusion of the Games.

One phone call from Cox's Congressman and the passport issue resolves itself.

Visa would be a much bigger issue, but I think Mongolia and Turkey do not require one for US citizens.

hmm ok just going from what was posted and they claim it came from Columbia, Mo. Maybe USA wrestling didn't check it out who knows.

Any citizen can drive to a large city and pay more than normal price to get a passport that same day I think.

This is really a non-story. As others have stated, even if for some odd reason he was even allowed to compete without already having one it could be resolved very easily. Those involved at that level wouldn't have a problem getting him one.
