Any chance of TV coverage. Also, last year during the Scuffle and Nationals I kept track of wrestling on a site that showed frequently updated scores on all mats. It had the little figures to show if they were neutral or someone was on top. I hope that description makes sense. Anyway, I was hoping one of you could remind me which site that was.

I believe there will be video streaming to subscribers ($$$) of FloWrestling

You should be able to access free audio streaming from PSU (GoPSUsports.com)

As for the keeping track of wrestling, I enjoyed your description. Sounds like you were following the action on TrackWrestling.com. I just checked, and they are slated to cover the upcoming Scuffle.

Gonna start a GoFundMe for a month of Flo. I would pa 9.99, not gonna pay 19.99 which is ridiculous

I don't know. I look at it this way: I can pay $20.00 on or about Christmas, and I can watch some really good wrestling for a month. I can get Powerade. I can get The Scuffle (while eating pork and sauerkraut, mind you), and I can get Escape The Rock. I can get other wrestling as well as access to some pretty good documentaries (recommend the one on Kolat). I then cancel my subscription and feel like I really got my money's worth. That's how I look at it.

I do the same thing every year Diego!

I paid >$60 to see alvin and the chipmunks, the road chip on Sunday for the family. I will get more use in a month out of flo this time a year than that 2 hour movie. So I guess what Im saying for me, the $20/month from Super 32 through nationals is worth it.

PS - Im super juiced for the Terry Brands documentary....the trailer is Awesome!

It's only $12.50 a month if you subscribe for a whole year. I am not a fan of some of the stuff Flo and its staff do but I use their site probably 10 out of 12 months a year. Worth it IMO.

I have the yearly Flo subscription, and I more then get my moneys worth. I watch a lot of freestyle competitions, which are held throughout the year.Watched all of Taylor and Ruth's matches at the U.S. Open last weekend. I will be watching the Scuffle, in parallel with the PSU bowl game, which starts at noon on Jan. 2.

I've been doing a month here and a month there for a few years but now find that there's at least one thing I want to watch nearly every month. That's partly because they have more content available and partly because I've become more interested in senior level freestyle. I think I'm going to take the plunge, sign up for the yearly subscription and hope that trackwrestling's attempt to pee in Flo's pool doesn't ruin my swim. (Trying to watch Beast of the East was painful. There were a gazillion mats going and no way to know who was wrestling where or what the score was. I'm afraid the Scuffle is going to be the same.)

That's why I follow Twitter (@pennstateWREST) at the same time, as they are very good at letting you know the mat.

When I think about how I used to get my wrestling information 10 years ago and how little live wrestling I would get to see from any of these great Tournaments. I do not understand how anyone can think $20 for a month of Access during the Heavy Wrestling Months or $12.50 a month for a year subscription is a lot to ask?? I can understand if someone does not have the disposable income and chooses not to, but to complain about the price seems crazy in a world that makes you pay over $10 to see a movie for 2 hours.

They're much better about identifying matches at the college level than at the HS level, which is understandable. Sometimes they identify upcoming early-round HS matches on Twitter but not consistently enough that you can rely on it. I believe that they eventually identify all the matches after and make them available in archives though.

Now I feel dirty for defending Flo, which refuses to respond to my numerous complaints about their authentication. Their live stream bumps me for supposed IP conflicts randomly and without warning, reason, or explanation. That's what you get for your yearly subscription: deaf ears. Still, it's the only game in town for so many events that there really isn't a choice if you want to even try and watch those events.

Do you:
A: Use a mobile device and other device (computer) to watch? I know mine forces me to bump my computer off when I'm driving and can't afford to miss Taylor/Ruth.
OR B: Use shaky public wifi? I think sometimes the wifi resets or if you're in and out of a network, they assign you a different IP?

Those are just possibilities. I never had an issue with it until I was tryna catch the Open/Nationals during the break at a folkstyle HS tournament.

Exactly! Most importantly, it's a way to help legally fund Willy to promote PSU wrestling!! Thanks Hawkmann!!! @HAWKMANN @Azchief32 @1stplacehawk @amalone :D

Thanks, but the IP conflict issue isn't quite the same thing as the bumping issue (which isn't actually an issue--the site *should* only permit one client to be logged in at a time). I think the IP conflict issue somehow relates to the fact that the Flo site often can't account for multiple browser windows being logged in. For instance, you can be logged in fine to the streaming page and the Arena page doesn't recognize you, requiring you to log in a second time. It's probably not the source of the problem, but it's a sign of amateur site design and thus less surprising when you repeatedly get booted from the streaming page. I had some hope when they announced a site overhaul, but the new Flo site is just a cosmetic reworking of the same architecture.

tikk - no, it's new architecture. i won't get into the details, cause i don't know crap about it. but i do know THAT.

also, Scuffle will be on FloArena - so super easy to follow. look at dashboard and click what you want to watch live. look at brackets and click what archived matches you want.

P.S. - Make all X-mas checks payable to Willie Saylor's PSU Recruiting Service, INC.

most likely you have multiple devices in your home accessing the internet through a central access point (like a wireless router). Your main device disconnects (put in sleep mode, etc.) and another device takes that particular IP. This is sort of a good thing because there are a lot of downfalls of having a static IP.
I would check your PC, assuming that is what your're using, and check on the settings on how long it takes before it goes into a standby mode...

Thanks, but the problem only occasionally arises at home. At work (a huge network) I'm able to watch Flo streaming maybe 25% of the time. At work I'm on a pretty large network, and the problem appears even if I've not logged on in a week. It has nothing to do with having another client assigned to a particular IP address, because I still see those bump messages when that's the case, whether I'm having problems with the stream or not. The problem is only with the stream, not even with the archived videos. And the symptoms didn't change when the new site was unveiled.

tikk, i've never, ever heard of someone having a problem with archived videos. not sure where that came in to play.

No, I said that I don't have a problem with archived videos. It's only the streaming where the IP conflict issue arises.

Screenshots of the types of error messages I get when the problem does arise here, here, here, and here.

that's great b/c NO ONE ever has a problem with archived videos.

and i think you're having a problem with tech yourself, b.c. all those links give me an error

Me too:

404. That’s an error.

The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

To me the $20 is totally worth it. I would of been estatic when I was kid wrestling to be able to watch the matches you want to watch asap. I can remember having to wait for forever to be able to see matches on crappy vhs, so $20 to watch every mat at the US Open or Southern Scuffle is totally fine with me. Plus, their documentaries are really good. The Cary Kolat is must see for any wrestling fan.

Depending on your network team at work, persistent streaming may be getting whacked. I know we do it.

Thanks, I considered that, but the IT guys tell me it isn't the case. And I can stream pretty much any other video at work, so it follows that they're right. There are a few sites blocked by the network but there, the error messages derive internally. Here, Flo is delivering four distinct error messages of its own.

I apologize for derailing the thread, but appreciate the responses.

I'll send these screenshots to the appropriate channels here at flo Tikk.

let ya know what i find out.

update: this is what they told me:

Hey Willie,
They may need to unplug their router for a minute or a minute and a half for their router to reset their IP address. Once they have replugged in their router, they will need to restart their computer and that should fix the IP address problem.

Pretty cool of Willie to take a minute and try to help with some of this stuff...I agree with many previous posts by the way - $20/month is very worth all of that coverage and content!

Thanks Willie, and apologies for the late reply and to everyone again for dumping it all onto this thread. Perhaps this is useful if anyone else has a similar problem down the road.

I do appreciate the leg work. That's definitely not it, though, since the problem has existed over months, during which time the system occasionally gets reset in the normal course of things. Perhaps the answer is that Flo streaming is blacklisting *my* particular IP network &/or host, perhaps automatically. Perhaps if the powers that be at Flo could simply whitelist my particular IP address. my problem could be resolved. My username here is the same on Twitter, so maybe it could be arranged there if your IT guys thought it could help.

I am more interested in how I can get a job where I can stream Flo videos at work -- not only that, but I can ask my company's IT staff for help with Flo video streaming.

So I've been supporting Penn State wrestling?!

Well, start with law school... Granted, I can't bill out "watched Scuffle live" to clients (perhaps I should be imagining a job where I could) but I'm busy enough to where occasionally looking busy for the sake of appearances isn't an issue.

What I meant is: my employer blocks live streaming while at work -- excepting internal events. (I can view streaming on my company laptop when at home, as long as I'm not remotely logged into work and it's not a site blocked by our corporate McAfee account.)

And we're required to annually sign a pledge to avoid personal use of company resources -- though it's well understood that you can a little (especially during lunch) -- for example, nobody's getting reprimanded for checking if their kid's school has an early dismissal in the winter.

So, at my company, going to IT with this help request would be practically begging for HR disciplinary action. (BTW, I work at a very well known engineering/manufacturing firm.)
