People can talk about our best OL going down and that cost us the game, or one of the DL so JT had all kinds of time to throw. You get a punt blocked, or giving up a 30? yd pass for a TD, or not running any clock and tackled for a loss on a run turning 1-10 into 2-17, but you know what really happened?
Despite all of this stuff we still had the following, a FG wins it, we had time, and time outs great field position,
Said star OC, getting paid $1 million + a year has the following scenario....
Needs a FG to win, has 1:45 on the clock, all 3 time outs, ball on the his 40 yard line.
So how far do we need to go to get a reasonable kick? Their 30? 20?
Now watch these series of plays
OSU runs the same D 4 snaps in a row!! It real easy to read. They have 2 3 techniques, 2 5 techniques, the put 1 LBer over the C and the other on the edge
Now the LBer have SB, the DB's are all man to man with a Free Safety, for all 4 downs!! (yes they ran a few T/E stunts here and there but that's irrelevant)
We have 4 pass plays. But let the tape run to the endzone shot of the second down sack. What do you see? I see green grass (turf)! All we had to do was run either SB on inside zone, or flare him and have TM run a QB draw!! Either one would have hit their heads on the goal post as that would be the only thing stopping them! Block the OG's on the 3's, block the OT's on the 5's and the C on the Lber!!
Where was the spotter in the booth? Did Joe listen?
I can see throwing it on first down, but when they lined up the same way on second down, someone should be screaming down to Joe,to run the ball!! You have time and TO's! if only he listened.
