STAROCCI COMMITS!!!

I struggle to comprehend why anyone would have the mindset that any recruit is “a long shot” with this program
Guys with very clear, direct family ties to the schools they chose -- i.e., Fix and BoJo.

That's really about it.

Wait, almost forgot -- guys who are on some fans' wish lists, as opposed to being recruited by the coaches.

I think that I started the #2020 a few days after Lee committed, but in all reality it may just pass them by.

This transfer strategy will backfire at Iowa. Mark. It. Down.

Its one thing to get a potential AA to fill a hole, its another to depend on them to carry you to a championship. March will sort this out for us but my money says a few points and the needle stays put

Starocci on why he committed to Penn State, and his plans for this year -- including competing at a TBD college open.

As El Jefe references:
Starocci is also hoping to attend at least one college open tournament before the start of the high school season, and he said he’ll wrestle 184 instead of trying to cut to 174.

“I just want to get a gauge of where I’m at,” he said.

Season starts in a couple of weeks so I would think he'd be going to an open this weekend or next...

Yes. Getting Lugo instead of Sasso is gonna hurt them for 2020

Not sure if it's a strategy or a stopgap. But I agree with the sentiment. Transfers are rarely anything different from what they were at the previous stop. I'm sure someone can bring out an exception, but I'm going with the rule.

There may have been other factors going on in that case. I've posted many times that although I think Sasso made great strides over the past two years, his early years without a doubt cast some risk there. I think that could possibly have played a part, especially given some statements recently by Iowa wrestlers about culture. It's a shame, but Sammy was a little immature like many teenagers early in HS. Glad it ended up turning around.

Two, tOSU was always the favorite with Sasso in my mind. I heard too many direct statements from family members to ever think otherwise despite the message board clamor. tOSU had everything that they were looking for and more.

If Staraocci and Nijenhuis meet this year Nijenhuis will win every time. Nijenhuis still growing, will probably move up in weight.
The Can Mac kid is pretty good, but that is a rather bold statement

Nijenhuis is like 0-8 against Starocci. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile.

Nijenhuis looked to be every bit the wrestler Starocci is, and perhaps more, in last season's semis. That was a really good match.
