ESPN kept running this stat in the crawl at the bottom of the TV screen along with Penn State getting pasted by Michigan State, 55-16. Only a 39 pt loss to a once proud football powerhouse.
It's an abysmal record against your best competition. Down right ugly... as are the pastings Penn State has been taking every year for as long as I can remember.
Penn State can't beat Ohio State anywhere
Penn State has been routinely the past few years... man handled by Michigan State with ugly
final scores
Penn State couldn't handle Michigan... except in the Brady Hoke years
Penn State seems to have trouble with Northwestern except when Matt McGloin was playing
Penn State seems to have had trouble with Nebraska since they joined the Big Ten.
Penn State has lost to Maryland, Illinois and Indiana... the traditional bottom dwellers of Big Ten Football or college football
Penn State also has had trouble with Iowa.
Would it be too much to ask to have Penn State return to the resemblance of the dominating teams of the 80's. That's how far back I have to go to remember the constant success of Penn State's football program. It's getting too far removed for me to remember... 2005... 2008 (Still got torn apart by Mark Sanchez in the Rose Bowl). Good LORD.
Having to go through the last years of Joe Paterno's, I WON'T LEAVE campaign against the leadership of Penn State and the sanctions by the NCAA against the leadership of Penn State which accepted the flawed Freeh report and then helped pay for it... has Penn State scrounging for relevancy among the also rans of college football.
It does show the sheer necessity of LEADERSHIP at any level to make tough decisions. Either to remove a legend or to accept/fight sanctions that has crippled and left its football program struggling to be remotely relevant.
