Just resigned Landry Jones...does that mean no QB in the draft this year? It looks like the dude from Temple is the #1 guy if he is still on the board....

OMG there has got to be somebody on the FA market that is better than Jones.
Just give up on the Landry Jones experiment, it didn't work, move on.

I agree. Now, sign a Dre Kirkpatrick or a true corner and try something called press coverage

Hassan Reddick from Temple is moving up the board. I've seen him as high as #15 in some mock drafts. But they need to go with a pass rushing OLB here, then corner.

I agree, but the way I see it is if they have to use any back up QB for an extended amount of time, they're screwed no matter who the back up it is. Except if you're the Patriots. They win 11 games with a back up who never played in college. WTH?

Secondary is needed. I do not agree with them taking an outside linebacker in the first round. That player would ride the pine for at least a year. In the first round, that's not a good strategy.

Of course they could address their secondary need via free agency but they won't. Maybe Brandon Flowers, but he was awful in SD last year. Perhaps he can come to Pit and fit in better with the zone scheme, like he played in KC.

I just read an article that said they're looking for corners that can play man(or zone) after getting torched by the Pats.

Mock drafts are not "the board". The Steelers will play their cards close to the vest as they always do and follow their own draft board, as they always do.

Their draft game is getting old and tiresome from an alienated fans perspective.
I'm a Steelers fan, too, and include myself here -- perhaps we're just a bit spoiled?

Yeah, we all know about Super Bowl championships, but keep it to recent years
Haven't had a losing season since 2003
The last 3 years have been 11-5, 10-6, and 11-5 with 3 playoff appearances
Most recently, reached the Conference championship game

When looking at draft prospects, keep in mind the Steelers will pick 30th out of 32 teams in the 1st round, which is because..........they continue to be a winning franchise.

I disagree with them taking an OLB in the first round. That player would not start over Dupree or Harrison. They have immediate needs in the secondary to address.

With that being said, I fully expect them to take yet another linebacker, the fourth in five years.

IDK they have to get someone to be able to at least give Harrison a rest if not start outright.
How long do they expect him to drink from the fountain of youth? And truthfully while he did have a decent year he is not nearly the player he used to be. He only looked that way because the other LB'rs weren't that good.
I do like Dupree but, INMO, the Steelers track record under Tomlin of drafting LBR's leaves a lot to be desired.

Something that puzzles me is the talk about needing to draft a tight end. They just signed Ladarius Green to a 4 year contract and James seems to getting better each game. When healthy, Green can be a great weapon. The same can be said about Leveon Bell and Shazier but there's no talk about drafting to replace them.

That said, I wouldn't mind them using a 4th round pick to take a RB to replace Williams. Until Bell can stay healthy and clean, the need for a suitable replacement is glaring. When Bell went out vs. the Pats, it was game over. Also, with what many say is one of the best O lines in the league, they could really use a 1-2 punch to take some of the workload off of 26.

Is DeAngelo Williams done?
I hope not but man The Steelers are living on borrowed time with some of their older veterans.
I do think they need to look for another RB.
That being said I hope Williams is there and has another great year.
I like the guy.

Williams is a free agent and it doesn't look like they're going to resign him. I like him too, but I think his time with the Steelers is done. After the injury bug got him last season, it might be time he calls it quits. He's an old man in a young man's position.

No facts please Roy. The team isn't any good after having a poor informal, voluntary, stretching session and free smoothies yesterday. A lot of poor stretching form rumored and some spilling on t-shirts was reported.

Timmons just signed with the Dolfins so unless they plan on Vince Williams replacing him, they are now on the clock for an ILB.

Wow. Are you surprised they let him go?
Geez I was never a huge Timmons fan but he was pretty good and the best lbr. we had.
I would say Shazier is our best LBR if he could stay healthy.
So what do we have to do to get rid of Jarvis Jones? LOL.

Jones is also a free agent and isn't going to be resigned. I'm not so surprised at Timmons as he is 31 and on the down side of his career. Shazier has been calling the plays for years so should he stay healthy that part won't be effected by Timmons leaving. The writing was on the wall when they signed Vince Williams to a multi year deal last off season. However, Timmons' shoes are going to be tough to fill for anyone. That kid from Temple is looking better every minute. I doubt he'll drop to 30 in the draft though.

Meanwhile, those A-holes up in New England are killing it. Sign a better cb than the one they're losing. S. Gilmore instead of
L. Ryan. Pick up K. Ealy - DE from Carolina by moving from 64 to 72. Pick up a decent TE in Duane Allen and only had
to swap a 4th for a 6 to get him. If the Pats keep D. Hightower, gonna be gearing up in their Blitz for 6.

Oh yeah, prob gonna get a kings ransom for Jimmy G and kill the draft too.

Cry alert....cry alert....cry alert....cry alert.........

it pains me so much to say this....The Pats own the Steelers.....as well as the rest of the NFL

Defense wins championships and I think it's time to part ways with the 6'3 270 lb linebacker.

How many times over the last 10 years have we heard about the old and slow defense? Those old and slow guys were replaced with young and slow guys who are now old and slow. Couple that with an inept secondary

Aren't they supposed to be in the process of moving to a 4-3 defense? Can't happen soon enough.

This century, the Steelers have the 2nd most wins in the entire NFL (behind only the Patriots)

In the 1990s, they were only 8th in the league in wins......
In the 1980s, they were 15th.......
Even in the 1970s, despite 4 Super Bowl wins, they were only 4th on the league in wins

Relatively speaking - this is THE BEST ERA EVER for the Steelers ( as far as winning games is concerned, obviously the 4 1970s Super Bowls were a big deal), but I think that a lot of commentaries from the fan base would make you think it has been the worst

Uh this era sucks for the steelers. We have done less with more. Zone vs the pats is crazy. Did that with slow defense now we did that with fast defense. We need better backfield on defense. Shut down corners and safety's that people are scared of. They are out there and they should go get them.

You obviously aren't too familiar with the Steelers.

Good luck covering Brandon Cooks next year too. Oh, Gronk will be back too. #blitzfor6
