Forgot to set DVR while watching game out of town. I heard he got into game in fourth quarter. I know it was clean up time against Rutgres, but did he pass the "looks test?" (ha ha) He had so much promise in high school. Just wondering if he looks like he is improving.

To be honest with you: every indication from the coaching staff and from people who watch practice is that Jenkins has improved significantly on the practice field and in the weight room since he got here, and might even be ahead of where the staff thought he would be at this point. I really don't think two drives worth of playing time to run out the clock against Rutgers is going to be any more instructive than every message we've heard about the kid for nearly two years now. He passes the looks test, but needs to refine his technique and is getting better.

In his 4th Q snaps:

Technically and fundamentally, he was fine (small sample size of course)

He was not very physical (and more-or-less "tentative" in his blocks)......all in all, about what you'd expect for his first game action (aside from being on the placekicking line)

There are a couple links in threads below if you want to watch it. One for the full game and one for the condensed version.

Everybody knew he was a project. If anybody can help him succeed, it would be Limegrover.

By the time Jenkins got in, it was a 40 degree sleet hurricane and RU had given up. So not sure anything can be taken from the few snaps at the end of the game.

Start around the 1:57 mark ...

Sterling (#76 LT) definitely did better on the first play than Brendan Brosnan (#75 RT). He is going to want to hide when they review that play in film session.

I think he definitely passes the looks test. Appears to move well and has great size. Looks like he has "good weight." Maybe a little tentative but with the conditions this may be stretching it a bit. The future OL looks very bright. Next year will be an upgrade as some of the older, less athletic guys move on and the younger guys develop further with playing time. Jenkins will be a huge asset once his light bulb turns on, so to speak.
