I really hope parents and recruits are seeing how Harbaugh is on the "business" side of recruiting. His motto must be "we need you, until we can replace you with someone higher ranked"

Kiante Enis, 3* Athlete that committed to them in June. Article says he de-committed but I wouldn't be surprised if his offer was pulled.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with this? It sucks, but a business. If he pulled a kid's scholie cause he fills he can give it to some one else better, then who cares? It sucks, but that what the NCAA has come too. It's Michigan's scholie, It's their school.

I see the competitive side of it and I see the f'd up side, especially this late in the game. Seems messed up but I guess you do what you have to to win at all costs in his shoes.

In college football these days, it is clear that the ends will always justify the means.

I certainly don't condone it, but I have been brought up that when you commit to do something, you do it. I run all of my design projects on handshakes with my clients and I never take on a client that I feel the need to write up a contract. That is just me and it has worked for me well in 30 years of business. The commitment goes for the scholar-athlete and the school. If both have shook on it, both should honor it

Now, if UM or other schools start dropping people and not honoring their commitment, it is not against NCAA rules but it will certainly be against many recruits ethical rules and may bite them in the future. This goes both ways though and the recruits should not commit if not committed

Now, we we only 1% of what is going on behind the scenes with coaches and recruits so it is hard to pass judgement on what really is going on. We have read a few items of recruits that look bad for the university but you'll never see the university's side published

Usually I am all for applauding success but in this specific case, sad to say I believe I will get joy on Feb. 3rd if Rashan Gary stiffs Harbaugh. It would allow me to visualize a tantrum that makes any previous public displays of bad behavior pale in comparison. Even with a top 5 class, that glutton will have nightmares for years.

I say get rid of the 85 scholarship limit and move the one signing period to August, just before the start of classes. May the best team win!

Ethically I have a problem with it, but it is within the rules. College football is indeed a business and coaches are paid million dollars salaries to win games. Teams that win game sell more tickets and see increased donations. Given that so much is at stake, I can understand why it is done.

Very good take on things and I agree. What is interesting to me is that Enis said he decommited but because of Harbaughs actions with the other recruit people go right to he pulled the scholarship from Enis as well. So which is it this time? Do we not believe the kid is telling the truth this time but the last kid who had is scholarship pulled we believed what he said on Twitter. Just my take

Its a business at the expense of the kids, who play around with the system too. Get used to it.

Hard to tell. Adam McLean de-committed, or 're-opened his recruitment' too. Horse dung.

THE MOVEMENT @MoneyMakeinAdam
I want to say thank you to everyone in Happy Valley but I am Officially Decomitting from Penn state

Really? Not sure if serious

And one PSU recruit tells a twitter fanatic to knock it off. Hope all get the message.

Well this is hilarious ...

Stop. Tweeting. At. Recruits. You. Fvcking. Weirdo.

One case, maybe two in a year is possibly just the bad fit or academic issue type of thing but Hardball is skirting a very dangerous line whereby the smarter recruits will see 4 guys in their class being pushed out and wonder if they will get the boot if they have a bad practice or injury someday. In the end, this is short term thinking by Michigan.

There is so much we don't know in these situations, it's difficult to take sides.

I agree with your sentiments whole heartedly. Unfortunately, most of the HS recruits and the HS coaches of those recruits aren't really going to care about another kid having his scholarship pulled. My guess is that they would basically think "oh, well I'm a bunch better than that kid, so it won't happen to me." The ones that usually hold the grudge is the HS coach of the player that it had happened to, and if it is a HS that doesn't put out great talent every year, then the colleges look at it as no big deal.

I would love to think that the HS recruits look at it, but the only ones pointing it out to them are the other college coaches, that the kids are just thinking it just negative recruiting. Believe me if the HS kid is excited about getting the offer, he doesn't really care that some other kid had it pulled.

Unfortunately

Then say goodbye to parity, and say hello to the 1970's when you only had just a few really good teams that would just stockpile talent, and then it makes it virtually impossible for a mid-major to ever become a good / competitive team.

Teams like Houston, Oregon, Virginia Tech, TCU, W. Va., NW, Minnesota, South Carolina, etc. They couldn't compete because schools like Alabama, Florida, OSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, NEB, and yes even Penn State, would bring in classes of 40-50 kids, basically keeping players away from the other schools. Then if the kid isn't as good, or wants to play they have to transfer down levels. Not too mention the quality of football diminishes at all levels.

Reductions in scholarships has been great not only for mid-majors, but for 1-AA, D-2, and D-3 football. If you think that only kids that can't walk and chew gum play d-2 and d-3, then I urge you to go see West Chester, or Bloomsburg, Cal Pa, Slippery Rock, or Widener, F&M, or Del Val play a game. You will see Offensive Lineman just as or almost as big as what the D-1's are playing with. The difference is usually athleticism.

So, I guess it's OK for a recruit to commit and at the last second flip to another school but it's wrong for a coach to pull a schollie when a better option becomes available or the coach never recruited the kid in the first place,

Harbaugh is just a slimy goofball.. No doubt he can coach, but people will tire of his antics

Another player (Richardson) just de-committed from Jimmies silent treatment.. Hell, I think Urby at least tried to hide his scumbag tactics. Harbaugh could care less

Heard that Jim H. did a 20 second tap hit of Budweiser at the house of a LB in Michigan to show how tough that he is.........(not sure if true, but that is what I heard)

If it's a business, how come the kids aren't paid like the coaches are?

Enis took an OV to his home state school (Indiana) last month. Rumors of him flipping to stay home had started prior and that just confirmed those rumors. We had a coach visit his school this morning in which Enis decommitted to that coach in person.

What's the line from North Dallas Forty? "Every time I call it a game, you call it a business. And every time I call it a business, you call it a game."

LOL. I still put Michiganers well above Buckeye Fanboys, but the divide is shrinking

Haaaaaa! On a related note, we just got a top 100 player about an hour ago. Cornerback. Good news for Penn State is we may just be done at that position so Hill is there for the taking.

Yup

Great news that Michigan is now sinking to the same low levels as OSU. I guess that is what happens when you've lost to them 10 out of 11 years, or something like that. Ah, the smugness of the high road is gone forever, isn't it? And you know what? You'll still probably lose to Ohio State, because Meyer does the low road better than anybody.

Yep, it's gonna be a bear trying to beat him but this recruiting class will help a lot

Dude: You are wasting your time trying to explain, rationalize or otherwise minimize Jim Harbaugh's decisions or actions as coach of the Wolverines. That essentially illustrates the difference between posting on your own board and posting on a rival school's board. On your own board, you would not need to explain, rationalize or minimize. Other posters would be doing it for you if the subject came up at all. On a rival school's board, that stuff won't work in any event, and it just gets in the way of the narrative. There's no middle ground. LOL....(Cue "scUM troll" post from Bushwood.)

And that what really matters, isn't it? Not Michigan's better undergrad school, or it's better med and law schools, or it's reputation as being one of the public Ivy's. The only thing that really matters to you guys is beating Ohio State in football. That is the only true way that you measure your dick size, isn't it?

In the long run this can really hurt you with high school coaches, hmmm however if your ultimate professional goal is to win the Super Bowl you may only be around for 1 recruiting cycle.
