TA Cunningham is a Lion

Welcome aboard, young man. We look forward to your personal and athletic growth.

By all accounts, he's more personable than Scott was and his youth/pedigree makes him very relatable. That makes up for his lack of experience. Be interesting to see how he does with '25 recruits as well.
Can he coach?

Welcome aboard TA
Another vote of confidence in Barnes, Diaz, the defensive staff, the whole program. Penn State is an "it" place for a lot of positions right now. DT is the hardest thing to recruit for in college football because big guys with strength, quickness and intelligence are so rare.

DL picture seems to be improving under Coach Barnes.
According to 247 Composite this is how we stack up currently vs OSU and Mich in the class of '24 DL and EDGE recruiting. I only looked at the 4 and 5 star guys.

DL (45 ranked 4 star or higher)

OSU #3 and #4. Both a 99
PSU #14 a 95 and #30 a 92, in running for Willor, #11 a 96
Mich #29 a 92, #41 a 89, #42 a 89

EDGE (33 ranked 4 star or higher)

OSU #2 a 99.5, in running for #13, a 93
PSU #20 a 91, #27 a 90
Mich #7 a 95, #17 a 92, #21 a 91, #29 a 89, #33 a 89

Note: I rounded to the whole number

Getting Willor would be a great pick up. He is listed as a DL at 6'4 250 but could be an EDGE.

OSU gets elite guys, as we know.

Mich seems to have stockpiled EDGE guys, nabbing 5 of the top 33 and their top 2 ranked ahead of our top guy. Although our top guy, Williams, is very close to their second guy, Smith (.9198 vs .9146)

No one knows
I have a book of sports results that some old man gave me that predicts every major sports outcome. I'll look it up.

Now compare him to other college coaches. Will the DL be able to stop the run vs Michigan?

We have 2 minor comparisons to make right now. DL looked good in BW game. And he's picked up recruiting kids 1/4 way through the process (or more) and has pulled in some good kids. Umeh is the bigger loss than Palepale strictly from rankings standpoint.

Maybe so, but nobody has stopped them since the UGA playoff game. While we need marked improvement, the offense doing next to nothing hurt that game tremendously. A conservative plan didn't help either and I hope Diaz figured that out. Our depth overall should be better and this is a game where our graduates hurts us less looking at the game today (PJ is a loss, but he didn't do anything in this game last year) compared to say OSU (where Brown and JPJ played big roles).

And Christian Driver is still a db bc he wanted to be, right? Is How am I wrong? I want the kid to be a DT but its not even close to official that he will be a DT at PSU.
He was recruited as a DT. He wants to be a DT. So, the kid is a DT. What you’re suggesting is that he may fail as a DT, and have to be moved back to OL.

In reality, that could happen for any recruit at any position, so why even bring it up as a point? Would you like that clarification be made for every recruit? For example, it’s not official that Ethan Grunkemeyer is a QB. See how ridiculous that is? He is a highly ranked QB recruit who wants to play QB, so he’s a QB.

Cunningham is a highly ranked DT recruit who wants to play DT, so, he’s a DT. That, is how you’re wrong.

You guys always have talent. You just have to be more consistent on the field on a weekly basis. You seem to have one or two bad games a season where you lose a few you shouldn't.

0 games lost last year that psu should have won. 0.0

Your team on the other hand just isn't very good and has really low expectations each year.

Awesome.

You don’t see very many 6-6, perhaps 6-7 as he’s still young, DTs most are low center of gravity 6-2or 3 guys. It will be interesting to see how he develops

When a team out recruits another team 10 out of 10 years, who should win?
The team that develops the talent better and has a better preparation. There is not drastic differences between your talent levels.

Wrong. Ohio St has had talent comparable only to Georgia and Alabama for about a decade. There is a big drop off after that. Then Clemson, USC, LSU, and a few others were that next tier. Michigan has been consistently ahead of us in talent but not nearly as far as Ohio St has been. But Michigan hasn't underperformed with that talent the way Ohio St has.
