Karenbauer wins 5-3 on a late reversal in the UTB stall-out period.

Just watched this match. Awful reversal call. Not even close.

Just watched this match. Awful reversal call. Not even close.

Just rewatched that sequence.

Karenbauer wrestled through a scramble and ended up on top of Burke- it was an awkward position. With 10 seconds remaining in UTB, Burke was on his back with Karenbauer’s left leg across his chest, preventing Burke from bellying down. Karenbauer’s left hand had Burke’s right (top) wrist and was pulling it up and towards him. K’s right hand was under Burke’s left (bottom) knee and K was lifting it up and pulling it toward him, keeping Burke on his back. Burke’s left hand wasn’t holding anything as he fought to belly down but couldn’t because Karenbauer was holding him on his back. Ref rewarded reversal with 2 seconds remaining. BUT Burke was still in control…?

Here’s the video of the scramble in question. Personally, I don’t see anything that would give me the impression that Burke was still in control

For the referee, that call is either a reversal or it’s nothing - it’s not going to be called an escape. Burke clearly was no longer in control as evidenced by him holding onto nothing of Karenbauer’s and actually fighting to get to his stomach but being held on his back by Karenbauer.
