Edy is big and very effective close in with his right & left hand. Purdue's PG Smith has really improved over last year. Purdue is solid. Still like UCONN to repeat and that is the only team remaining in my bracket picks.

And if someone breathes on him he goes to the foul line…that helps.

Tennessee tried to live by the three. How do you not challenge Eddy early. He played 40 minutes and had one foul. Ziegler killed them with bad shooting.

Well, it is how the NCAA and NBA work, the stars are protected. Although in his defense, there was alot of pushing and hacking on him.
It got ridiculous this year with him. He had one more FG attempt this year compared to last year but almost 200 more free throw attempts this year. That’s a bit over the top.

Refs called a good game. He gets hit everytime and is hard to officiate,
Shaq got hit a lot more, yet went to the line half as many times in a season. They call a lot of anticipation fouls against Edey. They think he’s gonna get fouled so they call it. He should also have four or five fouls called against him every game, but is usually around one or two.

PSU put Myles Dread on Edey in the BiG Tournament title game last year and only lost by 2 pts.

Yes, Zeigler was throwing up alot of ill-advised shots and that is not his game. He is a defensive specialist. Selfish ball breeds losses.

Edey is so good and his improved stamina is an underrated aspect of his game. He can defend without fouling and completely changes the game at both ends of the floor…39 minutes today for a guy that big is impressive. Think NC State matches up pretty poorly with them.

He's hacked a ton and is better this year than last year. People just don't like that he is the proverbial 800 pound gorilla and side with the "little guy".

Stop whining. The guy is really good and you need to just accept that. The refs are not giving him preferential treatment or whatever you are trying to imply thus taking away from his stellar play.

Purdue slows down their pace at times to let Edey get up the court and pace himself which is nice strategy. Edey got some calls but they bodied him up with mutiple defenders and did hack him continuously. There were more than a few times that he got bodied and/or swatted at were not called as well. With the newer rule of allowing defenders to stand straight up and go verticle the Benefits Edey as well. He's so long that he's effective defensively without fouling.

If Purdue can keep a couple 3 pt shooters shooting a fair percentage when teams double and triple Edey Purdue has a decent chance to win about any game. But I just don't see them beating UCONN as they are just as big and more athletic. But we'll see......

It was fun to watch Burns from NC St eat up the big guys from Duke..... But he'll have a much tougher time vs Edey unless he can get Edey in foul trouble.

He'll have a battle with that "kid" from NCStatebacking him down. It might end up looking like a football game!

In Edey, Purdue has a guy who can actually match up with UConn's Clingan.

Granted, I'm getting ahead of myself. Gotta play the semis first, but both the Huskies and Boilers are double-digit favorites to meet in the final game.

DJ Burns has just about the softest touch around the rim for a college guy his size that I have seen. Really good at converting in the post and great footwork. Great to see him out play Filipowsku who of course got way more notoriety than he did

No, he’s just really big. If he was 6’4, he wouldn’t even play D3. I would be a beast playing against a bunch of 4’9 guys. Height doesn’t impress me, height and athleticism does…he’s got one out of two.

So you’re saying Shaq wasn’t hacked a ton? Yet Shaq had around 200 fewer free throws in a season. Most big guys get “hacked” but none of them go to the free throw line over 400 times. He gets the benefit of the doubt….stats don’t lie.

If you're not impressed by Edey, I don't know what to tell you. There are players taller than him, and those guys aren't close to the player that Edey is right now. He's obviously way more athletic (and skilled) than you want to give him credit for.

There are like two guys taller than him, that’s not saying much. He’s a good player that happens to be really tall. If you’re that impressed with him then that’s your opinion.

So all the other big guys in the history of college basketball who never even sniffed 400 free throws in a season just didn’t get fouled as much…right.
No, they didn’t. They likely didn’t have the stamina and ability to stay out of foul trouble, didn’t have the usage rate, and didn’t have the skill to draw the fouls (and Purdue plays a crap ton of games). He’s like the perfect storm of getting to the line.

He’s more than a “good player”, he’s a back to back National Player of the Year. Give the guy a little bit of credit for what he’s accomplishing.

Geeze the kid won back to back player of the year. Scored 40 and 16 points to get his team to final 4 and yet you think he’s only good cause he’s tall and gets all the calls. You obviously don’t watch much bball

Tall with long arms is advantageous, not talent

And last year he only got to the line 200+ times, so he suddenly started getting fouled? I’m obviously not the only person who sees him this way, is he even going to get drafted in the first round? 7’4 and a likely second round pick….yeah, that says a lot.

I watch a ton of bball and coached for many years….and I’m not the only one who thinks he gets all the calls. Many basketball guys who know way more about the sport than you or I feel the same way. I’m far more impressed with Dalton Knecht (and obviously the NBA experts are too). If he were 7’4 he’d score 60 a game.
