Terrible news reported by Willie S re: Jim Vollrath

So sorry to hear this. A strong and vigorous young (I'm guessing 26 or 27 years old?) man and now he's gone. Condolences to his family and friends.

The closest I can come to a 21 gun salute is to post his win over 3x national champ Alex Dieringer:

Of course he was much more than that. RIP, and special thoughts and prayers to his loved ones. Losing someone during the holiday season is awful, and it makes the holidays painful every year. Losing someone way too young during the holidays has to be the worst.

Man that is terrible; way too young. I remember making a point to go over and talk to him and his family at the ESU Open his true freshman year. Was so impressed with his aggressive wrestling style, especially for a relatively unheralded recruit compared to some of the other guys there (Taylor, Ruth, Kemerer, Altons). Condolences to his family and friends.

Pretty much that punch to the gut feeling.

Also picked up huge points in our first BIG Championship.

Horrible news. RIP James. It's so hard to believe that a few years ago he was a healthy young man with so much life ahead of him. And then cancer happens and takes James from all those that love and cherish him.:(
Thoughts and Prayers for his family.

Very sad news. Another day when life seems cruel.

I didn't know Jim personally, but I'm sure he had a positive influence on many, and will continue to do so.

Jim Vollrath Has Died...

...very sad news to report that former wrestler Jim Vollrath , son of Bill Vollrath. also a former wrestler, died last night...
...our prayers go out to the Vollrath family... the Penn State wrestling family has lost a valiant warrior and friend...

Some of the wrestlers/coaches visited James during the weekend of the Keystone Classic. Great that James was able to see them. RIP, young man...

Very sad and shocking news. I prayed beyond hope that this strong young man could win this fight over an insidious disease. There aren't even words to express the sorrow I feel that he is gone way too young. But I'm going to remember that James Vollrath was a winner in life...

I was up late last night studying for an exam when I saw Willie tweeted that, uhg that sucks. Condolences to all of his friends and family as well as all of his PSU family here who hurt for him. Sad to see anybody go that young. I can't imagine losing one of my former teammates and best friends to such a cruel disease, very heartbreaking.
