Have we ever played them? I think it be neat to play a game out there and go see a game at the Air Force Academy.

I'd also include the U of Colorado in Boulder. Wish the athletic department would start to think out the box and schedule these type games (plus Washington, USC, LSU etc).

I believe PSU played Air Force in the early 70's - same with Colrado. I've been to the AFA and I wasn't overly impressed with it. Not bad but not as scenic as I thought it would be. PSU is a nicer campus. I see no point in playing AFA in a home and home. Colorado might be worth it if they ever become good again.

Yes we played both and we played both at the AF academy and in Boulder (where we got crushed on National TV to the tune of something like 41-13...think it was 70' I think we won at Air Force something like 17-14 back in 70' or 71'. I'm too lazy to look it up.

EDIT: Okay I looked it up...we played a home and home with the Buffs in 69 and 70. Beat them here 27-3 then got pounded out there 41-13. Beat AF at home in 71 16-14 then beat them out there in 73 19-9

That loss to Colorado was the first I experienced as a PSU fan. Started following the team in 1968 and was quite spoiled and then watching them get smoke on TV with a bunch of family members and neighbors. I remember my parents and their friends looked like they were at a viewing that afternoon. Talk about a party killer.

Actually now is the time to schedule Colorado. As PSU recovers from sanctions its the type of game that is perfect now- you get credit and attention for playing a P5 PAC 12 team that has a 'name' but isn't very good right now (lost to Hawaii 28-20 last night). Much better than Eastern Michigan, Coastal Carolina etc. ;)

Screw that. Outside of Army or Navy, we should play TOP competition. I'd rather lose to Alabama than beat Colorado, given the choice.

Comments like this just show how many people don't get scheduling. The schools you name are one and done home opponents, not home and home opponents. Playing a Colorado at Colorado would mean that is the one big OOC game for the year and PSU would still play E Michigan, etc.

Like it or not the school needs 7 home games financially. Playing multiple major OOC opponents will not be possible with a 9 game Big Ten schedule. Unless you want your tickets to greatly increase in price to cover the $10 million plus brought in from a home game.

I would love to go to AFA to play a game, tomorrow I guess they are having an amazing fly over from 2 F-35 Lightnings.

I have no issue playing Bama, but wouldn't want them yearly. No reason you couldn't play Bama, AFA/Colorado in the same year. I would also like to see a trip to Boise.

I played at Air Force. I don't know that PSU would ever do a home at home but you couldn't ask for a better place to travel to out west.

I understand scheduling just fine thanks. What it shows is the mentality of many who can't break the way things have always been done. Having Colorado as the main OOC opponent is better than any OOC opponents this year (or the forseeable future until VA Tech). It's time to start to widen the team's scheduling rather than the repeats of Temple, Pitt, Syracuse, Akron, eastern Michigan types.

That's really the key. Our schedule is stale and boring. What's worse is the price of watching this slate of snoozers keeps going up.

I asked the schedule question during the Coaches caravan trip and was told as long as there are 9 B1G games, the cup cakes will continue to be served yearly. The snoozers will stay and our ticket prices will continue to rise.

And sellouts will continue to remain elusive.

Yeah, that loss was a first for me two. One thing I recall about the game, the Colorado players ran sprints in the end zone after the game.
