I finally broke down and purchased one. I bought it the day Rep. Scalise was shot. The make and model: Smith & Wesson MP15. It's generally considered to be the best entry level AR. I also considered a FN model for around $1,100 but it was a little too much rifle for my needs.

It's been awhile since I handled one (USMC 1984). Nonetheless, I was able to field strip it without consulting the manual! I also bought 1,000 rounds of .223 Remington, a rifle bag and 4 additional 30-round clips. What struck me is how small the .22 cal. bullet is. I guess I didn't remember that part.

I highly recommend younz guys get one before the government makes them illegal. Given the political direction the country is going it's only a matter of time. I recall both grandfathers waxing poetic about the Thompson, wishing they had gotten one. Don't make a similar mistake. Leave a legacy for your grandsons.

I'll be taking it out to the range July 4th weekend. I can't wait!
