ALLENTOWN, Pa. >> Recent documents made public show Pennsylvania’s former attorney general has paid $400,000 to settle a lawsuit by a former narcotics agent who claimed he was wrongly fired.

The settlement between former Attorney General Kathleen Kane and former Bureau of Narcotics Investigation agent Charles Horvath was made public Monday after a Right-to-Know request was submitted by The Morning Call (http://bit.ly/2rlkry1 ).

In the lawsuit, Horvath alleged he was harassed for months before his firing after he reported a supervisor’s order to hide an informant’s drug use.

Neither side admits fault under the terms of the settlement, and Horvath’s termination is now a resignation.

The attorney general’s office has paid $710,000 to settle lawsuits against Kane and her administration by employees who claimed they were wrongly fired.

Not sure i get the point of this post.

Just b/c you're not a big fan of Corbett, Kelly, and their crew (for good reason) doesn't mean that Kane is somehow worthy of your support. She is a complete corrupt (from NE PA - go figure) whack job who was totally unqualified to be AG. She also possesses many of the same negative qualities as Centre County's lame duck DA ... which probably explains why they are pals. It was Kane who tanked the grand jury sham-vestigation into SPM.

Noted.... However....what's changed in PA.... since Corbett was AG till now including Kane.... Nothing.... Only when she opened the door to the activities of her predecessors did the rest of the dark side strike her down..... and when does their day of reckoning come? Never...... I guess

There is a segment of this board who has taken the absolutely horrible treatment JoePa received and twisted it into "Republicans bad, Democrats good".

It is ridiculous.

And there are so many qualified, honest, and dedicated individuals who have served or wish to serve the good Commonwealth at AG. Kane's biggest sin was being a neophyte among vipers. Glad we have such a shining example of what a chief law enforcement officer should be in Shapiro and so many sterling examples from the past like Corbett and Kelly to follow.
Fina whining about leaks.....we talkin bout leaks man.....leaks.....

Joe was a staunch Republican as I understand. I think not that political affiliation did him in.

The guys that are truly running the show couldn't care less about political affiliation. They contribute huge amounts of money to both sides. It's about the bottom line. $$$

Neither party is worth a damn- but without turning the majority out how can you expect anything to change?

Only real way I can see and have thought about this is term limits. It will have to get to the point where it's so bad that the people are ready to over throw the government to force that to happen. The one's controlling the money and power are not going to go down easy or let go of their grip without a fight.

I would like to see much more balanced districts where moderates would have more control. Term limits in gerrymandered districts would have one political hack replaced by the next political hack.

nailed it- the gerrymandering of congressional districts, coupled with the subversion of the courts to allow the "money = free speech" argument to prevail has effectively ended democracy in this country.
