After watching that it makes me feel for James Whitters and the Iowa St fans. It's almost scary that Cael had to reach out twice to PSU and we could have missed on him being here.
Here's one that should make you shudder. They replaced Douglas with Cael the way they did because the belief was Ohio State was going to make a run at hiring Cael. What he has accomplished in State College could have happened in Columbus Ohio.
This video appeared on my feed this morning as well. Well done, and, to my memory, an accurate portrayal of the motivations behind the decision-making at Iowa and Iowa St after Hellickson retired at tOSU. Bravo on never actually deigning to show Tom Brands’ face but instead only splicing in snippets from Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin (thanks, IMDB) in Star Wars.👏

Excellent video. I live in Iowa and I vividly remember that day. THE day when the word of Cael‘s departure from ISU spread across the state. It was the lead-in story on all the major news stations in the state. It is an understatement to say that the Iowa wrestling community was in shock. Confused. And that all wrestling fans knew that a seismic shift in collegiate wrestling was about to happen.

That’s the difference between mere mortals and greats. The greats are visionaries who have the ability to see things, opportunities in multi dimensional levels. Cael had been thinking about PSU for a long time and realized the riches. It could have happened at ISU. It could have happened at O$U. But it happened at PSU because Cael saw it and its potential long before Sutherland left. He didn’t reach out to O$U and it’s hard to imagine ISU dethroning Iowa. It could have only happened at one place. Cael will be the new standard, if he isn’t already, in coaching…. no matter the sport period.
Yeah, they were a bit harsh on Curley in that. I'm surprised there's no JoePa mention, unless I missed it. I am told by many opposing fans that he ran the place up there....no wait, he ran the entire state of PA....and that Curley was merely his puppet.
