The Types and Purposes of 'Letting Them Play'

You cannot be serious, especially given you are a former ref/ump. Let's take your assertion to its logical conclusion. Let's suppose the refs on Saturday were instructed by the B1G office to see things OSU's way. Many on here have claimed that this very thing has gone on for years. This would require many refs over the years to follow orders.
At some point this would get out. Here is what would happen in no particular order, but with certainty:
1. All the refs involved would never ref again and could wind up in prison (not sure of the law on that)
2. The B1G would be hit with lawsuits from everywhere (gamblers, member schools etc.)
3. The B1G would be effectively destroyed.

The best NCAA wrestling program is clearly PSU. Could that be because the B1G wants it that way? As a former wrestling coach, I can tell you there are judgement calls in wrestling, like football. No, Penn State is simply the best program and they prove it every year on the mats.

Oh, there you are. I recall telling you before the game these calls would occur. Here we are with plenty of calls helping 1 team. It is the same thing every year with 2 programs in the Big Ten and the calls always go 1 way.

You could say the same thing about the NBA, but that didn’t stop the Donaghy era manipulation from happening.

I’m not a regular wrestling viewer, so I can only address this at a hypothetical level. But if there was a large amount of level-headed Ohio State fans who thought there was a consistent pattern of wrestling calls going against them, it would be wrong to dismiss those concerns out of hand.

Yet a PSU fan who was at the game said he thought the game was called evenly. This board has an unusually large number of posters who are not level headed. The best thing that could happen to the B1G as a conference would be for Indiana to defeat Oregon in the championship game and then eventually destroy Georgia for the national tile.

Why are you engaging Lando on this topic? If an OSU player did that exact same thing to a PSU guy, and folks here cried it should have been called taunting, he would just reply "that's not taunting ... that would never be called taunting. If you called that taunting, you'd have to call almost every reaction after a play as taunting ..."

He's just trolling, and you're falling for it.
You bring up a good point about if the situation had been reversed and there was a non taunting call on OSU. Let's see, he could not say it was a good call because that would be wrong, it was obvious taunting. He certainly would not say it was obvious taunting because officials never make mistakes that hurt Penn State. He would then just say to stop whining and they used correct judgment in not throwing a flag. I should have known better.

He's admitted he's a troll. He claims basically every call in the history of college sports could be reversed, and it would be completely correct, and the outcomes of games wouldn't have been affected.

He took a reasonable premise - that we shouldn't sit here worried about the ref's calls, because bad calls are going to happen, they usually even out, and you focus on what you can control (well, for fans, we control nothing ... but you get the point), and then he went Full Lando ... and you never go full Lando. He could never admit a call was blown, because, in his mind, that's giving credence to those who complain about the refs and he battled it so much, he ended up with his current ridiculous stance that ref's calls never affect the outcome of a game, and every call could or could not be made, and both ways would still be correct. Essentially, he's just going to troll every comment about a call, just to push his anti-complaining agenda.

There's many people here I agree. Sadly even you sometimes but blaming the refs is asinine. This is all emotion based.

Yeah, it's funny. He would be stuck in that situation. Something tells me if it was a non call against Penn State then suddenly the obvious taunting would not have been obvious. Because to your point, he could never agree with any Penn State fans who complained about the call.

It was clear that the Big Ten wants us, Indiana and Ohio State to all have one loss and they will make that happen.
OSU will get ALL of the calls from here on out to allow for that. Indian and Oregon will get nothing.
It will certainly be interesting watching those games.

The only thing Penn State did wrong was not throw enough bottles and other crap on the field. Well , maybe that's only in the SEC!and it's only in the B10 that calls are overruled days after the call.
