The Verdict Is In

So, it turns out 4 wrestlers wasn't enough to win this thing, but it would have been enough for a solid second place finish.
OMG WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNREAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER SEEN THAT IN MY LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, to recap:

I've been waiting half the season to say this.

We didn't NEED to pull Hall's shirt.
We didn't NEED 8 wrestlers to win.
No one NEEDED to grovel at the feet of those that called for the shirt to be pulled, as some of them thought we should.
No one should feel the need to take 21squirtguns off of ignore.

I suspect you post for many......

If we had zero points at 174 and Bo Jordan possibly wins....Does that still give us the championship without Mark Hall. Not assuming any points for Geno Morelli.

ALSO ..what was the final scores in team race?

1. PSU 146.5
2. OHST 110.0
3. OKST 103.0
4. IOWA 97.0
5. MIZZ 8 86.5

125 Nick Suriano 0.0
141 Jimmy Gulibon 2.5 4.5
149 Zain Retherford 8.0 28.0
157 Jason Nolf 7.0 27.0
165 Vincenzo Joseph 3.0 23.0
174 Mark Hall 2.5 22.5
184 Bo Nickal 7.5 27.5
197 Matt McCutcheon 2.0 4.0
285 Nick Nevills 0.0 10.0
Total Team Points 146.5

Let's do the math: 146.5 - 22.5 = 124
Bo Jordan scored 17 team points + 4 more for advancement if he wins = tOSU 114

Two things.

1. I don't think Bo Jordan beats Z Valencia anyway.

2. I was on the side of the fence that did not want his shirt pulled. It got pulled. It's done. My main concern was on an individual level for Mark, wanting him to have an opportunity to be a four time champ. That is still alive so my concerns were moot.

Mark Hall pulled his own shirt. He wanted to wrestle. Are they going to tell him he isn't ready and can't?

Yes. I do not see how Bo Jordan beats zahid though. Zahid would be close to majoring Jordan imo

I can't imagine any of our guys not "wanting to wrestle"
It's pretty obvious Hall reads social media and felt the fans wanting to see him out there. It's precisely the coaches job to tell him when he's ready.

Again, this is all pointless, he won he was ready.

So it is amazing to me that the points add up that we did not need him. The future is so promising...could red shirt and also olympic red shirt at some time

Same reason so many have him on ignore or have stopped listening to the boy who cried wolf on the football/mcandrew board when he was preaching the dark years were back as long as Franklin was head coach....

Exactly. You beat me to it.

But gotta admit that even though I KNEW we could win it without Hall, it was priceless to watch Marky take down BoJo sandwiched between Cenzo and Bo shocking the world. Scottrade was rocking!

At this point I wouldn't have it any other way. It was one of me most incredible scenes I've ever witnessed.

Add the "4th place trophy" and tOSU's 5 finalist locks to this list of rediculousness.

Just one addition / clarification to this post - I think many of us were ambivalent to whether Hall's RS got pulled, or not, and felt the decision was best left with Cael Sanderson and Mark Hall (and Mark's family) - as it should be given that their's are the only opinions that matter on this topic!

Turns out that Mark and his family had requested a RS before he signed - Cael gave Mark and his family his word that he would "honor" the request as part of his LOI Acceptance. Cael did honor the request and it turns out that Mark Hall himself is the party that requested his RS be dropped after winning the Southern Scuffle. So at the end of the day, the decision to RS and then the reversal of that decision to wrestle and not RS was made by Mark Hall & his family, NOT Cael Sanderson in an attempt to win a NC, as some would have you believe the decision process went. Cael was perfectly fine with any choice Mark made including maintaining his RS this year! The choices both ways (i.e., RS'ing and then reversing it and using eligibility wrestling this year) were made by Mark and his family, not Cael - Cael gave Mark & his family his word that he would "honor" their personal decision regarding Mark RS'ing this year, or not, and Cael absolutely HONORED his word and commitment that he gave to Mark and his family. This is NOT a distinction without meaning and is a huge positive in regards to recruiting as other prospects are aware of how this all played out and how "honorable" Coach Sanderson acted in regards to the verbal commitments he made to Mark and his family.

Well, the point is, Hall came to the coaches and told them he had changed his mind about redshirting and wanted pull the shirt and wrestle this year. Of course all wrestlers want to be out there. Social media pushed him to it? I highly doubt that. Of course the coaches already knew he was ready, he could beat everyone in the room at his weight.

We just won the National championship in dominating fashing. We all know the facts about points scored with or without Hall or with scorers 7 and 8(without Hall) and scorers 6, 7, 8 with Hall. We all know this, lets enjoy the domination!

An incredible 10 undefeated wrestlers with 1 in each weight class going into the NCAA finals:
125 - Gilman, upset by Cruz in the semis
133 - Nato, beaten by Clark in the semis
141 - Heil, champion
149 - Zain, champion
157 - Nolf, champion
165 - IMar, decked by Joseph in the final
174 - Valencia, beaten by Hall in the semis
184 - Dean, beaten by Nickal in the final
197 - Cox, champion
H - Snyder, champion

So 5 remained unbeaten with 5 losing. Penn State has 2 of the 5 remaining unbeaten wrestlers and were also responsible for ending the run of 3 of the losing 5. What a tournament.

Don't forget tOSU's non-7 outscored us 15 - 3.5 at Bigs. That difference would be too great to overcome at NCAAs.

He never wavered even though many of us tried to convince that their non-7 would be lucky to score 3 points at nationals.

Oh wait, non-7 scoring.

PSU 4.5 - tOSU 2.5 ... hmmm

You must be terribly lonely, lmao.

He won and has a redshirt in his back pocket in case of injury. Good situation to be in.
Just a guess on when Hall uses his redshirt...I think he redshirts for the 2018-2019 season, then takes an Olympic redshirt for 2019-2020. This would give him 2 full seasons to focus and prepare for the 2020 Olympic trials.

Tanmen are going to be tough next year, it is not a gimme.

125 Rodriguez
133 Hercules Nato
141 Hayes
149 Jordan
157 Hole
165 Campbell
174 Bojo
184 Martin
197 Moore
Hwt Snyder

That's a formidable unit, other than 157

They will be very tough next year. I personally think they have a better shot at beating us in a dual than they do at the NCAAs due to the format differences. Is Campbell a certainty at this point or just speculation?

I don't think the Bucknut weight room was open that week, so all those big muscles atrophied.

Man, you are insecure. Not to mention, obsessed.

Everyone gets it, you want to pile on and you memorize my posts and you try to get these posters over here to like you by piling on.

It's pathetic and so are you. SMH.
