These would be some good bball portal targets.

Looks like VCU’s Deloach is getting some strong interest. PSU is in his final six, but it feels like it’s a pretty competitive situation.

I wonder what is going on with the Center from St. Francis, PA who was in the portal?

Doesn't sound good to me if he was planning to be at PSU next weekend and now is committing tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong.
Not trying to be a "Debbie Downer" but I was thinking the same. Why would anyone want to play for that off-the-wall head coach @ IOWA? Perhaps he'll commit to PSU. Would be great.

That is not my expectation, but I would like to see him put a team n the court that can go .500 in the B1G and do better OOC. It is possible if the Freshman stay put and he brings in some key portal players.

I think the portal needs are:
-All around Guard like Ace Baldwi
-A two guard that can create his shot opportunities
-A proven Center hat can rebound & defend in the 6'8 to 6'10" size range
-A Small Forward that can drive and has good outside range
-A Power Forward who likes to do the "dirty work" inside

They are out there and they don't have to come from high major programs.
I’d like to see them go .500 in the big ten, but that’s highly unlikely. Rhoades is basically starting with a completely bare cupboard. Hoping to get some portal guys and show improvement over the course of the season. That’s it.
Now, in Rhoades’ second season expectations will start to rise.

Oh well. Maybe he didn't believe he would fit the Rhoades style of play. Hopefully some good news starts flowing for PSU Bball. "Ace" Baldwin and Deloach would be great news if they came over from. VCU.

If they run the MR defense and the JC Offense they will need 9-12 players that have specific skill sets. Think having 12 Mahaffeys mixed with some shooters. It isn't going to be a system that a slowish 6'10 white guy can succeed in.

That's the way I saw it. Slower post up offense type center that may not run the floor and have the ability to play the type of defense that Rhoades likes. As Tex said, Rhoades seem to like a bunch of players as athletic as Mahaffey that can stick to a man like glue, run the floor, and shoot. When he gets his guys in place it will be the most athletic team that PSU has ever fielded.

Yeah I have to think mahaffey and clary will at least give good thought to stay on board. Both are type of kid that would flourish in this system

I seem to like Njie's potential more than some here as well. Njie can run the floor and although he was pretty raw as a true freshman he looked athletic enough to develop his offense and improve his ability to defend without fouling as well.

Would be great to hear of Rhoades starting to fill out the roster but with NIL the tranfer portal is more complicated than it was just a few years ago.

I agree, especially if the kid can realize that he’s not going to the NBA anytime soon. He’s the kind of kid that gets incrementally better each year and then he’s all conference by the time he is a Senior.
