Almost time for that super exciting new college football tradition of seeing what projected starters are choosing to not participate in their respective bowl games. If nothing else it makes for some good board discussion . I can see both sides but i guess i lean towards if a student athlete is on scholarship and receiving aid from a school to be a part of a team then they should honor that contract by playing in these games. Some like to point out the revenue that schools make from having particular players on their team but to be fair those players also used those schools to market their abilities to a national audience. I know it might be just me but this is just another change in the landscape that i really do not like. I enjoy college football and i have always enjoyed seeing how different teams fare against each other and this is just watering down the product. If these games are truly meaning less then just have a playoff and scrap the rest . If you think you might get hurt then get insurance. Few coaches are ever going to publicly discourage a kid from sitting out because they always have to be recruiting and can't afford any backlash but there is no way they can be happy about what has been happening.
