Seriously? Right now, having lost 2 of 3 and looking like a 15-20 team, and todd says they are playing the 4th best ball in CFB.

michigan.

I really have no words.

This is a packaged message from the highest levels. The ESPN Gods saw how much viewership they got for The Game and they want a redo for the national championship. They are hoping that as the 4 seed, UM's defense can hold Bama and make it through so they can have The Game v 2.0 for the championship. I'm vomiting as I write this.

OMG, Todd has an opinion! How dare he!

Of course he can.. just awfully hard to figure out how he has this one.

Just a note... if a guy transferred from osu to ok and scored a TD today, I can promise you Herbie tells the world he came from osu and leaves the implication that he couldn't really cut it at osu anymore and had to go to an easier school like ok. TB didn't say boo.

Probably because the Oklahoma game is on FOX and Blacledge is on ESPN doing the Navy-Temple game. That might explain it.

? I kinda don't think you got the point.

They showed the play during the broadcast and the guys in the booth (TB being one) commented on the score. No mention from TB about Gino being from psu. My point is that if a similar situation occurred and Herbie had a chance to talk up osu, he'd take it. And he'd use it to promote osu.

You can argue that this makes TB a better man. I'd argue that former players need to take opportunities to soft serll us a bit more.

Take away his Penn State degree!! He needs to mention Penn State at least 10 times in every broadcast!

So the stuff we complain about Herbie and mushmouth doing, you think Todd should do?

If it were so obvious that Penn State was one of the 4th best teams, then we would be ranked accordingly. I wish PSU fans would stop complaining that people don't think we are top 4. It's not that I am happy, however, but my issue isn't that our "resume" is better than what they say, or our "eye test" is better than we are given credit for, etc. My issue is that the playoff criteria is subjective and arbitrarily applied differently to various teams. Penn State may not be one of the top, 4, but if you require that the same criteria is applied exactly the same for everyone, then it would limit the whining from us and other "bubble" teams that may not get in.

I think he's wrong. UM might have been one of the 4 best this year but they struggled down the stretch.

Good grief. I hope I'm not this bitchy when I turn 60. Luckily I have 29 years left until then.

His third best RIGHT NOW was three loss USC. If September doesn't matter that means PSU is undefeated and playing as well as anyone RIGHT NOW.

A rhetorical question (because I believe -- without going through the hours of research, mind you) that the answer is a resounding "NEVER!":

When was the last time a team lost 2 of its last 3 regular season games, to end up in third place in its DIVISION (not Conference), and remained ranked in the national Top 5?

As a friend said to me yesterday, there will be a 4-team playoff, but it's really just an expanded BCS because of the subjectivity -- largely based on confirmation bias.

Totally agree. Need to go to an 8 team playoff IMO.

Yeah, with a playoff there will be arguing on who is 8 vs 9 but the main teams in contention would be in and it wouldn't be so much of the subjective nonsense that this set up was supposed to get rid of (and clearly hasn't).

The debate this year would be who gets the last spot Oklahoma or USC? It would cause some debate but not to the degree among the highest ranked teams that we see now.

Also, it would expose teams that may have 1 loss but played weak OOC (like #112 if I heard correctly for UDub). Not all schedules are equal and to be so dogmatic on '1 loss team A' gets in over '2 loss team B' simply because of 1 loss isn't always valid.

Michigan dominated BOTH teams playing for the Big Ten Championship, one by 39 points while playing reserves in the 2nd half! Lost at Iowa by one point in a bad weather night "trap" game and lost at OSU with an injured QB and epic home cooking refs!

I really have no words.

I think the key words are "RIGHT NOW" Lets wait until after tonight's championship games are played. If we beat Wisconsin handily and Clemson loses we add a conference championship and a victory over a top ten team to our resume. It also gives us 11 wins, the same as OSU (to go along with a conference championship and head to head victory) and one more than UM (again conference championship and same number of losses). That has to help our chart for the "eye test". Will it be enough?, that's the question.

Blackledge just clinched Grand Marshal in next year's homecoming parade.

When did i advocate for that? I said it IS what Herbie would have done... and HE would have taken it as far as he could... all TB needs to do is make mention of Gino being a receiver who transferred from PSU. No requirement to do full out herbie homer.

Nobody asked Todd to give up his opinion or journalism degree... but there is nothing wrong with bringing us up when it is warranted.

And it was.

They blasted PSU and Wisky rushed for 71 yards. They are better than either of the teams playing in Indy.
