Tomasello 133

Bob is pretty knowledgable. NaTo still listed on the roster @125. We will find out for sure which rumors are true in about 6 weeks, though.

Wow. They should just go ahead and redshirt Martin. I wonder if JRod is going to attempt a cut.

Was it 21Guns who got raked over the coals (on TheMat mostly) for strongly suggesting this?

The main criticism being that this prognostication was based not on reality, but what helped us the most.

Below is a post from Bob earlier in another thread on the same forum. Must have gotten some new info when school started.

"bookemdano --- The Answer is:

125 Tomo

174 Bo
184 Myles
197 Moore
285 Snyder

Looking forward to the Bo v Bo showdowns, and Martin vs our 84.

Ohio State was one of the schools Ryan Millhof was openly considering, I wonder if he's thinking about it even more now. Or perhaps it's the case that the tOSU coaches feel pretty certain knowing where Millhof will spend his second semester and felt comfortable green-lighting Nato's bump up.

A future-looking question comes to mind. With no seniors, where does Pletcher fit next year.

And one question for this year...Gilman appeared to be Tomasello's kryptonite...I'm thinking Nathan has a better shot against Clark. Early Thoughts?

I had the same question about Pletcher.

I was wondering the same about NaTo's relative chances against the 2 Iowa guys. I think NaTo does better against Clark. Clark is slicker, Gilman is stronger. I think Gilman's strength gives NaTo trouble.

Pletcher goes 141. Hayes, Jordan, and Ryan all bump up, and that closes the hole at 165.

Yet Clark used to beat Gilman (have no idea what it looks like now) and has beat Richards who is strong and a whole lot of others. Where I think Clark will benefit with NATO is on top...he's a better rider than Gilman and has a lot more length. NATO strength with Clark will be in the tie ups and getting to Clark's legs. However, NATO doesn't seem to shoot a lot in big matches so we'll see. Will be fun.

Pletcher at 141? Rangy guys will eat him alive.

I hope Ryan gets desperate again and rejiggers his lineup.
Any worse than what they'll do to their 165s this year? Tomasello's not going up to 141 next year, so the only other options are making Pletcher cut to 125 or making him sit.

He'll probably sit, something similar to rogers at 174 for Oklahoma State this past season. my guess is cleary will be the guy at 165 next season

My post included that thought, then I erased it. Looking at the guys that have to move up, I personally believe it weakens the team. Guys move up when they struggle with the cut, to add strength and stamina. These aren't guys that are cutting too much. We'll see...it's a whole year away.

One more thought...with Iowa, Okie State, and others losing more to graduation than PSU next year (right now, Jimmy is our only Senior), I really thought, for 2017-18 it would be a 2-horse race between us and the Buckeyes.

Clark doesn't put the boots in that much, does he? That's the only way I've seen NaTo get ridden (by Dance). Otherwise he's hard to ride. You commented on NaTo not shooting as much in big matches. That was a real change his SO season. He did shoot a lot as a FR. He seems to have kinda done what Delgado did. Delgado was a slick shooter as a FR and then got really defensive. I hope NaTo doesn't continue in that way. As you say, should be fun.

If he does continue that way......then would he be considered in the same class as......Megastalludis;)?

You know, I think Nico has gotten a bad rap from some folks. Nico was plenty aggressive on his feet. He executed a nice shot on Gilman in the finals! In Nico's 2 losses to NaTo last year, NaTo got late winning TD's both times off of Nico shots. I've heard that nickname for Nico before and don't at all believe it's deserved.

Could well happen. I'm less sold on Cleary than Pletcher, but time will tell.

We've had guys move up to strengthen the lineup ... Jordan Conaway as a sophomore. Q and Ruth making room for Matt Brown. I probably should've taken a less absolute tone when saying Ohio State will bump their guys up. I think it'll make more sense than sitting Pletcher, but we'll have a better idea after watching all of those guys at their respective weights this year.

I don't disagree with you. Just joking....thus the emojis. Just poking some fun at those who truly think Mega stalls.

Definitely

Haters are going to hate hate hate.

I would dare for money 99.1% of the annoymous posters regardless of weight they carry today to go 3 periods w nico.

His snaps are violent. His movement is constant. His scoring is up with the best of his term.

His worst matches are against other nat champs.....who would have guessed that. Yes I include Gillman in that. #crystalball

The Milhoff thought at 125 won't happen as they denied his appeal for release. Milhoff went to appeal and asked for release with the massive change in coaches as well as he stated he was just not happy there and they turned it down. Surprisingly enough Lou told him he would grant the release but Leonard went into appeal and somehow over ruled Lou. Leonard is an assist ad. Not a great start to that marriage!!! Happen to be close to that program..... That could give recruits for OU something to think about!!!

Tried several times, even on HR, to share Nico's takedown, and bonus point wins info...fell on deaf ears. Even facts are not convincing when the dislike is so deeply-rooted. Most often it's better to ignore such unreasonable posts, and let each person's words show their ignorance.

This was my prediction for the finals that Amalone was nice enough to bring over from HR

125-Gilman vs Nico-Nico is a very active wrestler, looks busy, but doesn't shoot a lot against the top guys. Tomorrow is his finale so I expect that to change. I think he will come out shooting on Gilman. Plus, Nico's tank is on full most of the time. Thomas has to really work to tie him up and turn the corner on shots because A)Nico is very flexible and B)Will not hesitate to pull a Delgado if needed. Instead of hanging with Nico on one foot and the splits, try and turn singles to doubles and quick like. I hope it doesn't end like last match in OT, but I have a feeling its going to be close...Gilman 4-3

I know this is rehashing old news, but ..... They'd be a handful with Marenilli and/or White
